Hi Nell No luck I'm afraid. I searched 1799-1802 as it was not a busy church but there were no Marsdens in sight. Sorry Lyla

Hi Evie I had a wander round the printed book section but couldn't find anything relevant . There was a whole section of law books and lists but they were all from the 1900s. Its possible they have others in storage but I didnt ask as it was busy and I would not have time to order them up in any case. Sorry Lyla

Hi Lyla I would be very grateful if you could do a lookup for me in the Guildhall Library. I am looking for John BALDERSTON who was an attorney/solicitor. I know he was practising in the 1790s in Oundle, Northampton but would love to be able to trace him earlier. I believe he may have originated from London/Middlesex. Copies of the Law Lists, where solicitors were listed, are held in the Guildhall Library Printed Books under Occupations section. Unfortunately I have not been able to find a reference number online. If you could possible check a directory or 2 from the early 1790s I would be exceedingly grateful. Many thanks in advance. Kind regards Evie

Thanks Lyla, that info is brilliant & fits in with what I already have. The 'Willow Square maker' seems to be what one of the certificates says - now I just have to find out what it actually entailed :-)

Lorraine 16 Feb 1843 John Henry son of Horatio Nelson and Hannah Spinks, Porter of 3 Row? Court born 14? Feb 1843 Rachel I'm afraid the St George the Martyr records are held at the LMA For the first two baptisms it just says they were from St Brides. For George Alfred it says they were from New Street Square and that Thomas was an engraver. Hope this helps Lyla

Rachel All it said was 31/1/1796 Charles George son of Thomas and Amelia Owen of Leather Lane. I didn't look for the other children as it was a very busy church and would take ages to trawl for all of them. If you have the exact baptism dates I can look them up for you or just search a particular year. The baptisms after about 1813 are more likely to give you the fathers occupation. Michael Again not much info, it just says 22/4/1792 Willm Edw Goodyear son of Wm Hen & Sarah, Somerset Street Shirley 26/8/1829 they were bachelor/spinster of parish married by banns. Geo Yarrow the serial witness was there as usual and I really couldn't read the other surname - John OBruery or John J Bruery or something else entirely - Sorry! Lyla

Hi Patricia Unfortunately you haven't given me enough information. There are so many parishes in the city of london that it is impossible to search all of them so I need you to tell me which parish you would like me to search and between which dates (see my first posting on page 1). Have you looked on familysearch.org to see if there is a likely baptisms or marriages that would be worth a look? Lyla

Hi Lyla Thanks for your kind offer. If you have time please can you look for the birth and marriage of Benjamin Irving. He was born in 1832, this date ties in with the censuses. He was born in Holborn, although on one of the censuses it says St Pancras. He married Lucy Coomber around 1858/59. I can't find him on the 1851 census (I wondered if he could have had a different first name that he didn't use). Thank you. Patricia
