Hi Helen Thanks for your kind offer. Could you see if you can find a Frederick James Selwyn. I know he served in the Met but unsure of dates. He was born in 1906 and was definately serving in the West Ham area in 1934. Any info would be of help. Thank you Kaye.

Hi there - You have helped me before but I have just discovered yet another London Police Constable!! His name was Thomas Maslen (1862) and he is on the 1891 and 1901 census as an officer - he lived in Woolwich if that helps. Would you be able to look him up for me please? Thank you in anticipation! You can use his warrant number to look in the warrant books at Kew which give info like physical description etc. You can use the date he retired to check his pension record, which will tell you his address, his wife & children, final salary and pension due. Jackie Police-orders only covers the Met and is not comprehensive with that! As I posted on your thread on the Tips board, other police force records are either kept by the force in question, or at the county records office. I suggest that you contact the police force and ask them. nell

Ive have a vey old photo of a young policeman bearing the numbers 534Y on his collar.
Im curious as to whom this gentleman is as its a lovely photo & i hope it will be a family ancestor!!!
