Linda Re. MURPHYs in Stockton: Thank you so much - it was obviously good timing for a look-up! Most interesting info. - with a name like Murphy I thought they had to come from Ireland at some point. Many thanks and good luck in your own searches Helen

Hi Linda, I am really sorry but the image for 1861 does not show what area of Durham it is. If it is a big job then please don't worry. Gail

Hi Linda, Thanks for your kind offer. I'm looking to find Rosanna McKay (also known as Rose Ann) around the Consett & Harton areas of South Shields. She was born in Ireland around 1848-1851 (two different birth years on 1881, 1891 census's!). If you have time would you please look at the 1861 & 1871 census for her please? She did not marry until 1873 so I'm hoping she will be with her family - fingers crossed! Thanks again Linda, Best regards, Lisa

Hello Linda, I'm looking for a John Edward SPENCE born 1840 in Redmarshall, Durham. I don't know how big a settlement it was back then and unfortunately I don't have a better address. If it's too big a search, don't worry. Thanks very much. Paul

Paul Report 8 Jul 2004 21:37

Hi Linda, Thanks for looking for SPENCE in Redmarshall. I'm afraid I don't have anything else on an address until the 1881 census when they were living at 9 Cleveland Street, Middlesbrough. By then he had married Hannah CLARK and had children....quite a lot of children.. who were Marwood, Robert, Emanuel, Edward, John William, Alfred W, Thomas, jane and George. Paul

Darren could not locate him in Wingate - and couldn't find Hart Bushes - but the pages for Wingate are very faint and not easy to read, so could have missed him. Sorry Linda
