Hi Sue Im looking for a George foers born c1799 in laughton en le morthen. have checked the parish records already and no luck. I think i may have found him in the 1841 census but i'm not sure. any information would be much appreciated, I seem to have hit a brick wall! thanks julia

thanks for looking. I started doing our family tree as a surprise for my dad's 60th birthday but have become completely addicted! I did really well to begin with but feel like i'm at a dead end. Can you tell me which parishes it means he couldn't have been baptised in please? And also would it be possible to give me the other names, as it isn't a very common name so there must be a link somewhere. Failing that do you have any idea what I can do now? Does it possibly mean that he wasn't baptised? Are there any other ways of finding his father's name? thank you again julia

Hi Sue Can you help please regarding marriage of Thomas Gould born 1802 (Ardwick) married Frances M. ? (c 1806 Sheffield) all the children born Sheffield so assume they married there. First child born 1833 (Charles) presume the marriage will be around 1832 but I can't find it, hope you can help. hi julia, what other info have you got. there are quite a few foers on the vri. does the place 'whiston' mean anything to you.the only george on the vri was born there , but in 1767, i have never heard of laughton en le morthen, but on the parish record disc, it seems to be near rotherham. what areas have you got so far, sue.

Hi sue, Yes, Whiston does mean something we found a lot of Foers' from there. The George I'm looking for must have lived there at one point as all his children are christened there . They were John b 1823, William b 1829, Lydia b 1834 and Mary b 1831. George's wife was Alice (62 in 1861 census). I have a birth date for 1767 for a George Foers who could possibly be my particular George's father but I can't understand why i can't find a birth record for my george! Since all of his relatives seem to have been baptised. Laughton is a village about 3 villages away from Whiston. I have a list of parishes that were close by to Laughton but am unsure what to do with them Thanks, Julia

hi, on the vri- george foers christened 1/10/1767. father john m elizabeth also- james foers chr 16/4/1773 f john m elizabeth. still unsure where these places are near, is it rotherham ? sue.

Sue - this is a bit of a long shot.....! I'm looking for JOSEPH KIRKLAND, I think from Weston, Notts, need his birth/christening which should be around 1785-1790, parents' names if poss? Thanks, Sheila

hi andrea. all the records on the disc are pre 1837. do you have an address for them from the 1881 ? sue.

hi sheila. i found a joseph kirkland chr 25/10/1787. f william m hannah. at bullwell / nottinghamshire. also a william kirkland chr 8/4/1741 weston notts f joseph i hope this helps, sue.

Hi Sue , Sorry about that ( brain dead with all this searching ).They come from Leeds area. Everything seems to revolve around St.Peters Church. Glad you like the name , hated it as a child but quite like it now ---- not many of us around.Loll.

dont worry about it loll, i filled a form in the other day and put 1860 as my dob, mind you the bloke dealing with me said i looked well on it ! now i re read this i have just realised he wasnt complimenting me ! aaaah,and i thought i had got myself a toy boy !!! lol, sue.

hi loll, did notice something strange. the amount of sedgwick's who where curates or church wardens etc, all over yorkshire. any thing like that in your tree ? sue.
