thanks jane didn't know about william he hasn't been on other censuses.can you look up marrage jane and nathaniel randall i would think 1854to1859 dorset it could be sturminster ,whitechurch or blandford and give me janes maiden name.thanks victoria

Thanks for that Jane,wondered if you could find William Thomas Fry with his parents ,I can't find him anywhere on the census apart from 1901 with his wife saya he was born corton but there is no corton in wilts.William was born around 1876 wilts.

just for clarity
Hatfield is so close to Thorne,and back then the record would have been listed as Thorne,as that was the closest town, and hatfield, stainforth etc were all in the Thorne district of Yorkshire.
I live in the area and all my husbands ancestors are from the area,so we have had the same thing come up on records we have found.

have looked on 1891 but can't see anything that jumps at me,

think it might be easier if you had the marriage certificate that would give Williams fathers name & occupation.......

Could you please look up Alfred George Pleasant b 1863 I don't where in England in the 1871 census. Could well be using George as his first name.

I may have to try another angle like searching the passenger lists for when he came out to NZ - now this will be a pleasant occupation- which will confirm the census. I have made a note of them.
