Linda you need to post a thread of your own as this is a very old one and people will see the first date and possibly go no further.

Just go to 'add topic' at the top of Find Ancestors board, and post the details you have and someone will try to help :-D

I think that although it says he was born abt 1808, I think it is a transcription error, as to look at it and other numbers on this particular census he should be aged 43 not 63....!!!!

Irish Records Extraction Database
about John Kennedy
Name: John Kennedy
Sex: Male
Marriage: 1 Feb 1855
Marriage Place: Rath More, County Kerry, Ireland
Spouse: Mary Buckley
Source: Albert Eugene Casey, Eleanor L. Downey-Prince, and Ursula Dietrich.. Index of O'Kief, Coshe Mange, Slieve Lougher and Upper Blackwater in Ireland. 16 vols. Birmingham, Alabama: Knocknagree Historical Fund, 1952-1971. Found at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah under book call number 941.5 D2c Index, and under the following microfilm: 823801 (vols. 1-2); 823802 (vols. 3-4); 823803 (vols. 4-5); 823804 (vol. 7); 823805 (vol. 8); 823806 (vols. 9-10); 823808 (vols. 11-12); and 823809 (vols. 13-14).
The cover title notes that this compilation contains the what, when and where for the sixteen volumes on counties Cork and Kerry containing 30,000 pages, 3,000,000 personal names (indexed in each volume) with number maps of townlands, parishes, baronies, and counties. Not all of these entries have been included in this compilation at this time. However, the most important collections have been noted in the annotations below for use by researchers in pursuing additional investigations.
Volume 1: Baptisms of Rathmore Parish 1837-1874, including the parishes of Nohaval and Kilcummin, with a laçuna in the records from March 1841 - January 1844. It is said that an older parish register came to pieces and disappeared. The first available register is the one just noted. There are missing pages and many names are almost illegible. This is true thoughout the records of this collection.
Death records from several places in County Cork and County Kerry, not recorded in this electronic collection.
Volume 2: Births, Marriages, Deaths, Barony of Duhallow; Births, Christenings 1833-1864, St. Mary's Roman Catholic parish, Boherbue. County Cork.

Anyone Please?

Sian

Sian Report 30 Aug 2007 11:07

On the 1871 census it just states that John Kennedy was born 1828 in Ireland. Do you think his actual birth place maybe on Catherine's birth cert? If it just states Ireland - how do I begin to search - it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack!!

I can't seem to find John Kennedy on the 1861 census - can anyone help with that? However, by 1871 John was married to Mary A and living in Caistor, Lincolnshire. They had their first child Elizabeth in 1859.

Thanks Pam. How do I search for more information on John Kennedy, as he was from Ireland. Is there a database somewhere??

Pam

Pam Report 29 Aug 2007 23:30

Easiest way to find Mary A.'s maiden name is to purchase the birth certificate of one of the children.

Sian

Sian Report 29 Aug 2007 23:15

The above post missed off the important information. I am looking for a John Kennedy 1828 born in Ireland.

Sian

Sian Report 29 Aug 2007 23:14

Married Mary A (maiden name unknown). They had 4 children Catherine, Margaret, Thomas and Elizabeth all born in Caistor, Lincolnshire.

Any information about John, Mary's maiden name or how to find out origin of Irish imigrant, would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Sian.
