Delighted that you found your way back, Maria.

I hope you noticed that I posted the records of Olive's and Ronald's deaths.

Have you looked at freebmd to confirm the details of the births of your father and his siblings

Reggie: I believe her name was Olive maybe Darvell but I threw the paperwork away so I am not sure. I am going to try my luck when I get to Amersham/Chesham and thank you for correcting the date of death - I had totally made a mistake there - that was the year my cat died! Maria Darvell :-(

Hi My name is Maria Darvell (living in Florida but coming to Amersham/Chesham in April this year. My father's name was George Stanley who married Mary Teresa "Terry" Stanton from Lancashire). My father left home when he was 16 (not a happy place apparently) and joined the Coldstream Guards. He died in a drowning accident in 1973. My mother died in California in 2008.

I am 63 and my sister who lives in Colorado is 61. I know I have 2 cousins because an ancestor of ours left 4 of us money my sister and I and 2 cousins but I never learned of their names.

The DOB on the death record threw me..............and I've deleted all the info I found..

BUT...............

There is NO birth for the name in 1930....................so there was obviously some misinformation somewhere

As he is said to have married at the age of 21 - he married in 1948 - he could NOT have been born as late as 1930

So...............I'll re-post, when I can find the info again

MARIA SUSAN Report 20 Feb 2014 07:31

Hi, my name is Maria Susan Darvell, father George Stanley Darvell (do not know his parents' name we never met them). My father left home at age 16 to join the Coldstream Guards and when he was 21 he met and married my mother Mary Teresa (Terry) Stanton who was from Lancashire. I am the eldest of two female children born 1951 and 1953. We were recently contacted as someone had died and left a little money to no one in particular but it came to two of us in the U.S.A. and 2 others who I had hoped to hear from and I cannot remember their names but believe they may be children of his older brother called Arthur, Roger, Ronald or something!! I would love to meet relatives and I am coming to Chesham in April this year to see if I can track anyone down. He was very quiet about his family and we never asked much and our mother did not tell us anything. My father died in 1973 in a fishing accident (drowned). My mother died in 2008 - in U.S.A. He may have had a sister called Molly but I know, for sure, that the money was divided between 4 of us, so we know there are two other relatives out there that shared the division. This lady had not mentioned any relatives in her Will and we were tracked down. My father died in the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Cornwall (while fishing from a boat) - his body was never found. We are so wanting to make contact with our family so please let me know if you know anything. Looking forward to hearing from someone please. :-)
