HI IAM LOOKING FOR WHITEFORDS FROM AYRSHIRE IN SCOTAND MOST OF THEM WERE COAL MINERS IAM NOT HAVING VERY MUCH LUCK SO ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED MORAG

Hi Morag,
My grandfather was called James Whiteford and was born and raised in Ayrshire/Burnfoot Hill, which was a mining community. My great grandfather was also a miner who I believe went blind. Papa lived in Ayr all his life and married Elizabeth Hainey. If you think there's any connection or I can give you more information about the family - get in touch. He was born in 1903

hi morag my mum was a whiteford from burnfoot or new cumnock there are lots of whitefords there my grand parents were emily and angus whiteford does that help you let me no emily

1961 name on John murray swan and Rita McLaren her marrage certificate rita ( formerly rena ) McLaren whiteford occupation cinema usherette
her mothers name Kathleen Margaret whiteford occupation domestic servant
i was brought up with my brother john and sister alice catherine margaret swan any imformation on my relations friends school pictures were they lived would be greatfull thanks rita mcskimming john and ritas daughter my email [email protected]

As you are a new member, you may not realise that its best to only have one thread per family/request. That's because helpers tend to look at all the boards but may come across one thread while a different helper is trying to assist on another. That ends up as a duplication of effort.

Its also best not to tag a request onto a completely unrelated one started by someone else
