Yes Germaine, that is what I found. I too am sure we are on the right track. If only we could find Henry's marriage to Hannah to find Thomas's original surname!

I checked out the King's Norton marriage and there is a Henry and Hannah Brewerton living Aston which isn't too far from Kings's Norton and I found the other couple Ellen and Boucher!! Coupland as well.

I have replied to Rowena's PM asking her to check back here on what we have found.

Off now to walk the dogs and then go to bed. Will have to see tomorrow if Rowena agrees with us.

I am wondering about an Anna Jane Bean for the marriage to Henry Brewerton - Leeds Q3 1891. Page not viewable and one man missing on Ancestry.

Might be worth Rowena getting the marriage cert.

Don't think it is the right one - maybe they did not marry.

Been watching the thread with interest.

Ah thanks Gail. That is what I am wondering.
It may be worth Rowena getting Henry's death cert then she could see who reg the death maybe a hint there.
It is interesting isn't it. I really think that this is the right Henry just where was Thomas in 1891.

I think the Tom I found in 1891 as Grandson that we couldn't read was Baxter. Thomas Temple Baxter June 1886 and I have him in 1901 so not him.

PM from Rowena:

"The one thing we can be certain of that Henry was completly unknown to the Tadcaster Family they never met. He told no one of his family the only thing he ever said was that he was from Bradford."

Is this Thomas's marriage?

Marriages Sep 1910
Brewerton Thomas Tadcaster 9c 1627
Fowler Maria Tadcaster 9c 1627
Lazenby Annie Tadcaster 9c 1627

If so, then the witnesses Thomas & Sarah Lazenby were Annie's relatives.

Can't find any Bindsake on freeBMD. Are we sure about the spelling?

Germaine Report 26 Feb 2008 15:22

Hi Well I am really stuck now.
All the info off the marriage cert does match what we have found.
Looks like there has been some sort of family rift and he cut himself off from his family. Perhaps if he was Henry's true son and when his mother died he didn't care for him so that could be what the rift was about. Maybe when he reached the age to work his father took him home and he resented this and left as soon as he could.
Maybe this is where Badford features if he was brought up there. But what name?. I wondered if he was with relatives if he was listed under their name.
Running out of ideas.
That marriage i found for a Henry to a Mary A Whitling I am not really sure of now. Can't find any Whitlings in Yorkshir to fit and still no birth reg.

Germaine Report 26 Feb 2008 15:24

Yes Selina that is his marriage no I can't find a Bindsake either looks like spelling error of some sort.
The only other thing I can think of is he was in some sort of institution orphange or something and though I have looked at initials and can't find anything perhaps they have his place and or dob wrong.
I know I had 2 sisters in an orphanage miles away from home but they did return home as they got older. That could have set in the friction he returns home when he is older to find his father has another wife / woman and doesn't like it. Or resents that he wa left so long in the orphanage.
All thoughts.

PM from Rowena:

We will need to look closer we know our Thomas died in 1939 at age 53 in a nasty accident. So if the Thomas you found would have been that age. You could well be right

Germaine

Germaine Report 27 Feb 2008 12:12

Hi Potty Rowena.
From the info on his marriage cert and census it certainly looks like him.
Just where was he in 1891 and why can't we find a birth reg.
I was thinking if he was Hannah child from a previous relationship then surely he would have used his real name to marry ( only going off my G grandfather ).
But if he was the child of Mary and Henry they would have been quite old to be having a first child.
Big mystery there.

Selana

Germaine found a death in Tadcaster for Henry Brewerton in 1918.

I think Rowena may have to put this on the back burner until the 1911 comes out - might give some more clues!
