n for the overseas people

Sarah ................ you don't know how often I've wished that I'd talked to my grandparents or my parents and got information from them. Mnd you, my dad was the last survivor and he died in 1970! I wasn't that interested .... and they were not interested in tlaking about things either. My grandad would never talk about what he did or where he served in WW1.

As an example ............ I didn't even know my grandmother's maiden name when I started all this in 2003.

as for the brain cells ......... I'm missing quite a few of those as well! :))))))

Thanks Sarah. We've all been dimwits at some stage. Even tonight I gave the wrong name when asking for help. Mind you, I shouldn't have been answering the phone whilst typing!!

Hy Sylvia,
I have had some wonderful help from Inis and Theresa With Irish Blood In My Veins Etc if not mentioned lost a few braincells over the years, its a pity we did not use our Relatives more as we would not be in this state now!! BUT saying that I would not have had the friendships that I have made and as I am on my own (Single I mean ) it gives me a little outlet to contact adults instead of my gaggle of sprogs ..Sarah

Hi Sarah

we do appreciate that many people are novices, and may not be computer experts ...... in fact, I'm by no means a computer whizz.

The problem is that GR does not make it easy for any newcomer to find their way round the site, or find out how it works!!

That's why people like Cynthia have started these threads.

There are several helpful threads on the various boards. Do take time to read them.

Meanwhile ..... we are usually very gentle with newcomers!

Hi Glen, I have suggested that maybe you should get a bright red book and then you wouldn't lose it!! I do understand the frustration, but we keep plodding on in the hope that we can help the grateful ones. Hope today is a better day for you. C.

Glen In Tinsel Knickers Report 17 Sep 2008 00:05

Well yet again a thread was posted asking for help, replies were given, the thread originator didn't reply but started a 2nd thread with the same query as the first but didn't hang around to respond to either of their threads.

Three hours later both threads have vanished, unanswered by the person that started them.

Where's my black book gone?

Hi

he does say thank you, but this is on the Success board:-

"Thank you I've traced my family back to 1813 with little or no effort.
Unfortunately no rich relatives among them."

How many helpers were involved????
