Hello Mike thank you for replying so quickly sorry for my slow response, i was not expecting anyone to answer to be honest as the last reply was ages ago.I didn't want to presume you were here and i haven't got a question as yet but will now compile a long list as i see you have nothing to do, i bet twiddling your thumbs is now very boring lol.Nice to know you are still here and look forward to all your answers.
Thank you ever so much.

Greeting’s Again. …….Donna..

Having looked that Census returns for years 41,51,61…..

I’m sure Abraham was the Son of John & Ann

Surname had been transcribed different in each year but details were the same.

Greetings Mike, so pleased to see you are still doing your good work, some time ago you sent me details of the marriages of Benjamin Sykes/Sikes
1) to Sarah Rossell in 1807 2) to Jane Platts,in 1822 my request now is regards children -- Benjamine & Sarah married in Loughborough & I believe Sarah died in 1833 could you see if they had any children ---Benjamine & Jane married Coleorton their children were John Sykes/Sikes born abt 1835 Shepshed & Joseph Sykes/Sikes born abt 1837 Shepshed.

Thankyou Jean

Greeting’s Again……..

I’ve had a good in depth look at this…….

But Benjamin & Jane only appear on the 61 & 71 census returns. ….

I could not see any Children of the Sarah & Benjamin marriage
Exploring ALL the know avenues.

The only extra details I came up with is

Benjamin was stated as a Widower on the second marriage
And from the Parish of Shepshed.
and this was 9th. December 1833. By Banns NOT 1822.

Not sure if have given you the burial details ?

St Bardoph Parish Church.

Burial register Entry No’. 1318.

Sarah Sykes.
Abode. ..Shepshed.
14th. April.
Aged. …50.

Register Entry No’. 2177.
Benjamin Sykes.
Abode. ….Shepshed.
4th. October.
Aged. …92.

Register Entry No’. 2200.

Jane Sykes.
Abode. …Shepshed.
21st. January.
Aged. 80. .

So both Benjamin & Jane would be in their mid 40’s
When they got married
so it’s most unlikely to have any more other than the two children. you have found. ...

Hope this helps ?

MIKE. ……

Jean Report 27 Jan 2011 14:55

Many thank again for info on burials this is most helpful, now for next request,

Benjamin & Jane appear to have been living in Wigston Magna 1841 & 1851
with John Sykes b 1835 Shepshed & Joseph b 1837 Shepshed plus a Fredrick Platts b 1829 Coleorton, name given as Sykes in 1841, I believe this was maybe Janes son, is there any info re these births,

Thanks in anticipation

Greeting’s Again……..

Whilst I was at the Records Office this week
I did a search of the Baptism Registers for
St Bardoph Parish Church Shepshed 1832 ~ 39.

Sorry NO Sykes / Sikes baptisms found…….

I then checked out Coleorton Registers
But again NO Sykes / Sikes events found……..

Sorry. …..

Jean Report 30 Jan 2011 18:12

Thanks Mike, so they appear not to have been baptised, so maybe this is why no records of any children for Benjamins 1st marriage.

Your help is appreciated

Unless they were Baptised as…..” NONCONFORMIST’S ? “

Then that might be a bit more difficult to prove ..

Records wise. ….Records Office hold only limited Nonconformist records…

Greeting’s Again. …….

Just a quick whiz round my database…..

NO record for Mary’s Baptism found in Coleorton.

But there was three Bonser families in Coleorton around that time…….

The only thing I can confirm for the moment is the following :~

Coleorton Parish Church.

Samuel COPSON ~ Mary BONSER.
9th. July.
By Banns.

With the following children :~

1806. John. ……..Bapt. ...6th. January.
1808. Richard. .... Bapt. .30th. October.
1815. Susanna…..Bapt. .23rd. April.
1816. Jane. ……...Bapt. …1st December.
1818. Ann. ……….Bapt. .19th. July.

I’ll have a look at the records Office next time I’m there
To see if I can see Mary’s & Siblings Baptisms.

Sharon Report 1 Feb 2011 14:58

hi mike
thankyou much appreciated

Jean Report 1 Feb 2011 20:27

Hello Mike,

Re Sykes, yes they could well have been non conformists, as I have not found any baptisms for Joseph's 2 children, they were born in West Bromwich, I did a search there myself with no luck.

Jean Report 1 Feb 2011 22:27

Hello Mike
I have yet another Brick Wall, I have a Nicholas Sykes who married Ann ???, their 1st child also Nicholas was born 1773 in Loughborough, could you have a look to see what Ann's surname was,& when they married, I know its not much to go on as they may not have married in Loughborough

Greeting’s Again……

Ann could well have been a BAPTIST……

Coming at it from a different angle…….

All Saints Parish Church. Loughborough.

Nicholas Sykes.
Abode. …Loughborough.
3rd. April.
Aged. …79. ( 1746 )

Abode. ……Loughborough.
31st. October.
Aged. ….73. ( 1746 )

Records for Woodgate Baptist Chapel are like Hen’s Teeth…….

But I can at lest try next time I’m at the Records Office. …..

MIKE. ……

Jean Report 2 Feb 2011 15:35

Thanks Mike, this could be Nicholas's wife but on burial transcriptions on F.M.P there was also a Ann Sykes buried 09 04 1816 Loughborough, could you have a look to see if her age is recorded, & once again thanks for your time

Think I may send for death cert for 1840 death
