Went ok. In fact our area had a better than expected return rate and towards the end we were actually running out of work.

The Collectors finished on the 6th May and I think the Co-ordinators, last Friday. Each Co-ordinator had around 15 collectors working for them.

The Compliance Team (Heavy Mob.....!) take over now and will visit a sample of households in order to check the quality of returns submitted in addition to all those who failed or refused to complete one, or who filled in rubbish or offensive language. Cheryl's husband would have been on the list for a further visit, had she not completed the return on his behalf.

I think tomorrow is the last day for filling in the census forms online.

Seems ages ago that we completed them.

Hi all you census collectors.

I was just wondering how it all went. My husband was refusing to have his details entered onto the form, so I was naughty I completed it online with his details included and then sat and filled the form in WITHOUT his details
Once he had read it and was happy I said I would post it.
I drove round to my mums and shreaded it

He isn't interested in family history, but thats tough coz he will now appear in 100 years time -- well that is if we survive the night, after all the world is gonna end isn't it. lol

First outing yesterday afternoon - went reasonably well. Will be doing a couple of hours or so each day now as I am part time 15 hours a week.

So, if you haven't done so already, get your returns in...! On-line is by far the easiest way. Apparently they are going to take a firm line with non-returners this year. The problem is that it is costly and even right up to the last minute they can still agree to complete their return. In fact they will actually be given one when they turn up in court and only if they refuse to complete that they will face a fine. The main aim is to get completed returns - not to fine people.

A bit of a non-event around here, as we were due to start working today.

Our Census Coordinator tried to arrange a meeting for our team yesterday but no-one received the email. She is now trying to get around to see us all personally, apparently with a 10m baby and 3 year toddler in tow.....!

ID Badges won't arrive until Thursday or Friday so we can't start till then anyway.

So, waiting for the call at the moment.....!

Well, I've filled in the census form, that's all I can do. So last week was I employed, retired or self employed. Well, I am retired from used to be my main job, but I am also self-employed. If you are self employed you don't necessarily work every week, at least not to earn money. But I idid spent time researching the new tax rules announced in the budget, which may earn me income in the future (as a tax advisor). So should I have said I was self-employed? I said I was retired, bored and waiting to become a census collector!

I did the half day training course at the beginning of March. A week later there was a phone call asking for another referee as the one I had provided, our doctor, could not be contacted as he had decided to take a holiday.

Nothing after that till today when I had an email advising me of my employee number, so it looks like all systems go for the 6th April when I am due to start.

Had a phone call on Monday from Census recruitment asking if I was still interested in a job! Told them I thought they'd passed me over so had made other arrangements., Today I got an email confirming that I had withdrawn my application.

Just logged back on and was amazed to find that the E learning test pass mark is now just 75%. I wonder why!

IGP

Well done on the E Learning.

I am sitll wading my way through all the other 'stuff' we have to do for references and copy documentation.

I guess all the 'tight' timescales for submitting the required info/learning is to ensure we can cope under pressure.

I have no intention of falling at the first fence :-)

Ditto on Monday.

Completed the E training today. Got 84.44% first time. Would you believe it as the pass rate is 85%.....!

Like Madmeg I am staring to wonder about them...

I recieved this e.mail TODAY

"Thank you for registering your interest for a role with the 2011 Census. The job opportunities will start going live from 20 September 2010 and will appear on the census jobs web site, www.censusjobs.co.uk."

A little late in the day for me!!!! :-)
