I hadn't noticed the accompanying legends. I don't suppose there will be many one star entries although there probably should be a lot.

Ah! Found it now! Just under the line which has Occupation and Gender.

You’ve got to laugh; GR staff do have a sense of humour

5 stars – There’s no doubt at all
4 stars – It’s probably right
3 stars – Maybe right, may be wrong
2 stars – Don’t quote me on this
1 star – I’m making this stuff up <<<<<<

:-D :-D

When you click on a person in the tree and open the panel there is a set of five blank stars down the bottom. You click on them to turn them gold.

Have you managed to access it Ken? If so, how?

Kense Report 15 Jul 2012 08:36

DetEcTive, yes I have noticed the certainty field and given feedback on it.

I like the idea but feel it will not get implemented in a consistent way.

I wonder what happens to it in a GEDCOM export.

I didn't get the email, I've been working on my tree quite frequently in the last few weeks, can't remember whether I sent any previous comments, and have had previous emails from GR. I just noticed that the edit panel had changed a few days ago.

And your suggestion may be correct :-D

But the 5P's are always correct ;-)

DetEcTive, Yes i can see their problem now,

Very inconsiderate of this country to spring a surprise snap Olympics on London at the last minute

Edit, The 5 P's

Planning and Preparation Prevents Poor Performance

KenSE, Your'e right they are in the gallery, silly me. I still think the format of the old tree was better, and you could see the photo's without having to look for them. Also the notes are there too. Thanks.

In reply to Roy, and only as a suggestion.

London might come to a grinding halt in a few weeks. If the Programmers and Technical Team responsible for uploading the the new version are based there, they may be concerned that the staff are going to find it difficult to get into work when they should........and certainly get in on their days off or at odd hours if there is a major fault that needs sorting!

Re "Changes to tree" (this thread) and We need your help! on the Announcements board,

It is all very exciting, (but before these updates go live we want you to let us know if we’ve got it right.)

We are inviting members to join the Genes team for the day in London in July. You’ll be able to spend some time looking at the changes we have made and then give us your feedback and suggestions.

From
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/announcements/thread/1302773

I have not read any thread that suggest that this event has taken place yet So why has the new version of the new tree gone Live now?

Although I don't update my tree on this site, I've been having a look around it.

Many of the features seem to reflect some of the commercial programmes - since I normally use Family Historian, the GR version is not quite as alien to me as others find it.

One feature mentioned in the email is

**We have added a certainty tool so you can give each name in your tree a rating from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 stars meaning you are certain it is the right person.**

Has anyone found that?

Have your photos actually vanished or haven't you looked in the gallery?

welshbird201

welshbird201 Report 13 Jul 2012 20:30

I have just managed to get on to the new tree and like Chris my photo's have vanished as well as notes. As I said before the old tree is far superior and I'm sticking to it.

I have now received an e-mail. Thought I would have a look at the new tree but can't get on it. I'm not sure if its my rubbish computer or the site as I can get on the old tree. Never mind I always prefered the old one anyway, just as well eh.
Ah well it gives me something to moan about.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Joy
I think Estelle is probably right about the feedback and I am having a senior moment forgetting it. Having thought for a while I do remember complaining that on the new tree I could put a name and date of birth in the search box, the name would come up as present on my tree but when I clicked on it nothing happened - the screen stayed exactly the same. That would probably count as feedback, although at the time I just thought I was having a moan.

Joy

Joy Report 13 Jul 2012 18:40

Perhaps not, Estelle; one person has posted that she had not sent feedback.

No response to my email sent 13 July 2012 08:19.

Hi everyone,
just for confirmation, we sent the email to all the members who had sent in feedback via the new tree. However, I have taken the information we put in the email and created a blog from it that all members will be able to see. I have asked Phil (our lead developer) to load this to the site for me as soon he gets a chance.

Kind regards,

Estelle

Does everyone have the revised new tree or is it only those who received the email?
