Wisechild - exactly. "A" has total control. Should "B" do anything not liked then "A" just takes away any permission to touch the tree! Easy. The person with all the control is whoever's tree it is.

I have a comprehensive GR tree. My wife has her tree on Ancestry...My children want to add my tree details to my wife's Ancestry tree. Can this be done using Gedcom files without entering 800 odd individual entries ?

Lesley,
Another person can only make addiitions to your ANC tree if you invite them to be an EDITOR.
I did this once... and will never do it again
The person added loads of absolute rubbish which I later removed in addition to their editorial status!

A number of years ago a very distantly related relation of my husband, whom I met here on Genes started a tree on Ancestry to which she invited me and 25 others to be Editors of . She was dying of cancer and wanted to leave a legacy. She had created her tree and we added onward from where our families connected in. It has been a very successful exercise. She sadly died in 2011, however everyone involved now has a valuable resource.
As an editor you can add or subtract, upload photos, edit etc.

Alan,
RE: your question about combining trees. See my post on-

Have not tried it myself, as I was just responding to a question. But it does seem that it is possible to combine files.
