Hi All,
Can some one tell me whats happened to the drop down menu for the census years. I have just gone on to the censuses site and usually we are able to type in the details of a person and go from 1841 to 1851 to 1861 etc by a drop down menu but this morning I have to kept retyping the details.
Pam :-(

Penny Report 30 Jan 2013 07:47

Which site are you using?

Pamela Report 30 Jan 2013 07:55

Hi Penny
I go on Historical then go to 1841 census .....not sure what site that is ? :-D

Janet Report 30 Jan 2013 08:45

Seems a flippin' nuisance. I have always used this site for seaching through the census but now its just as bad as the rest. Why has it been altered?-jl

Reggie Report 30 Jan 2013 10:03

You must know which website you are using.............

Genes Reunited is a 'site'.

Ancestry is a 'site'

FMP is a 'site'

Carole Report 31 Jan 2013 09:28

Funny thing I noticed that too....its a real nuisance when doing a full trawl
WHY do companies tamper with things

Kense Report 31 Jan 2013 10:05

I don't see that there is a problem.

I went to the Home Page
Selected Historical Records
On the left is Census (England) with a selection that includes All Census records,
I selected all census records
Typed in a name of someone who lived 1834-1913.
Lo and behold a list appeared with him on all censuses with options to view each entry.

No need to retype the same information for each census.

Wend Report 31 Jan 2013 10:35

I think Pamela means 'page' not 'site'.

Pamela Report 1 Feb 2013 06:40

Thanks Wend for your useful reminder about "pages" and "sites" need for Reggie to get so hot under the collar.
Trying to make sense of KenSE helpful remarks.......will try it that way. Thanks to Janet and Carol as well................ I thought I was going mad :-))

Pamela Report 1 Feb 2013 06:46

Yeaph.......have tried KenSE works.....but the other way was better as far as I'm concerned. :-(

Reggie Report 1 Feb 2013 12:49

So you meant THIS site.............

Pamela Report 2 Feb 2013 06:54

Hi Reggie.....yes it was "this site" were were talking on Genes Reunited site I it never occured to me someone might think I was taling about Ancestry etc :-)) :-D
So what do you think ? was the other way with the drop menu for the censuses better .........if so lets get a campain up to reinstate it ?
