Ian, Most experienced researchers use as many free sites as possible but also use sites pay/subscription sites like Ancestry and Findmypast, GR is owned by the same company that owns Fiindmypast so all the records you access on GR come from their sister site |

I kow where i have gone wrong, i was looking for someone in 1852 because i found a census record from1861 with a William Hopkinson, and Ann Hopkinson with several children, one being James who was 9 years old at the time. Due to the names and area matchig what i thought to be correct, and probably being over excited with it, ive gone off on a tangent. Thanks to you i can see my errors! |

You say that you 'know' that James's parents were William and Ann.......is this taken from his birth cert? |
