Message from Noreen:

Charles W Moore 1879 Apr-May-Jun 1960 York Yorkshire East Riding

I have my info re my grandfather Charles William Moore, (brother of Percival Moore) who was born 1879 in London... married Rose Gertrude Mc Donald who was ten years younger than him, in 1913. He was a regular soldier and in 1916 he was posted to Wales to a place called Conway leading up to end of WW1 in 1918.

Then C W Moore and Wife Rose moved to 20 Hungate for the birth of my father Philip on 1 st October 1918.

Which one of the children are you descended from? Will try to find some further records.

If ever you want to return to this thread to see if any new info found, or ask for further info, then just go to any of the community pages and on the left is a link called "My Threads" (under Tools). Click on that as a quick way to get back.

Hi Marie Celeste,

I think you are right - patchem is very much close or possibly the exact family. It seems I have been given my great grandmothers name , which I was also desperately searching. I think Patchem has done an excellent result.
Huge thanks all round, I am so grateful

I can't find him on any census with the family you mention.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 13 Apr 2013 16:46

On the 1891 that patchem posted above the father Charles is a farrier. Given the siblings names I'm sure that must be the right family and that there's an error about Percy/Percival's birth year.

Noreen, could you confirm if the 1891 census posted above is the right family (just use the "add your reply" box below).

These names ring a bell, was he previously found as Percy?

However, have searched and can't find a thread.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 13 Apr 2013 11:41

If Percival was born 1877 he'd be a little old to be killed in WW1.

Is this the Charles (1879 - 1960) as it has some of the correct siblings in the family, (but Percy does not fit in with the suggested birth date and military record found)
