It would be wonderful if, at this very moment, he is shorting through the thread - no easy task.

I keep promising myself that I will try and abbreviate it further - but it is going to take time.

To be honest I think the GR community are by now the 'experts' especially regarding Evelyn's dilemma but I, for one, would be extremely impressed if AA can find the solution when the community has done such excellent work....So come on AA....show your stuff.....give us a bit of above and beyond just like the GR community.

Edit.....and be fair ...give him a chance to read the long thread......maybe....just maybe, he is working on it now and we have all got him wrong ;-)

Dear Community,

I did, indeed, ask the question twice - on the stickied thread and on the 'live chat' thread.

The term 'live chat' is rather misleading and I think some members may think that it is a video type of communication. It isn't, it's simply the sort of 'live' conversation that many of us have on here day in and day out.

If Anthony could take a look at this mystery for us, you would have the gratitude of a great many members of your Community.

Thank you.

Cynthia asked that question re Evelyn's mystery first on the stickied thread on THIS Board.

It was either the second or third posting after the OP

She then repeated the question later on the live web chat ......... and got a much less than useful response from AA

We do have good memories, Natasha!

and the Thread on this Board did NOT have any deadline .......... it looked as if it was an open ended request for help from the members, or at least one in which there were several days in which to think about a request to make.

You may have included a deadline date on the FB .................. but as I rarely look on the GR page on there, I wouldn't know!

Cynthia asked AA about Evelyn's problem in the web chat session on Tuesday, and got a less than helpful response.

Thank you for passing on Evelyns mystery mother to him Community.
When do you think we will receive a reply as to if he can help at all please?

Hi Cynthia, I think you are referring to his live web chat session whilst I’m referring to the thread posted on the message board asking for questions which we’ll air in our You Tube video – there was one question on that thread for Anthony which was on Evelyn’s mystery and I have passed this on to him.

Cynthia Report 18 Apr 2013 13:44

Dear Community,

I'm not sure I understand your comment about 'one actual question' for Anthony posted on the thread about Evelyn's mystery.

As the person who posted that 'one actual question', I would like to clarify the fact that, despite a rather long winded explanation of the mystery, I gave him the link and, specifically invited Anthony to look at the thread and see how much hard work has been done over the last 4 years, and that we would welcome his advice.

His response to my invitation was to state that he sees that I have referred him to a thread 'somewhere else'. Maybe he thought I was referring to another genealogy site :-S

Would it REALLY be too much to ask the GR resident expert for help on a mystery which has bamboozled so many loyal, paying members for so long?

I look forward to a reply.

There was no deadline mentioned when I looked at 8 am GB time.,
It was probably posted on Facebook like everything else of interest to GENES MEMBERS: :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

Hi all,
The thread was read before it was removed and was done so because, as stated above, the deadline has passed, the filming for the You Tube video is taking place today. There was only one actual question for Anthony posted on the thread about Evelyn’s mystery, which was passed onto him as well as the 20+ questions from the facebook post.
The video will be uploaded to the site as soon as it's ready.

I think that Karen's suggestion of the reason why the AA thread was removed so quickly is most probably nearer to the truth than that given by Natasha.

I wait to see whether this thread will now suffer a similar fate.

The truth is that the truth often hurts.

Strange, but I had a feeling that thread would be whooshed.

Deadline my a*se! It was nothing to do with a deadline. GR didn't like the comments or the direction they were taking, it wasn't what they'd bargained for, so they whooshed it.
Simples.

Consequently I don't suppose the resident genealogy expert will look at the 'Evelyn's mother' thread now. :-(

MC ..................

that is the web chat thread with the resident genealogist, which shows on your Home page

the one FBG is asking about was a stickied thread by GR on Genealogy Chat ......

....... asking for people who had a "sticky" problem to contact GR. If it looked interesting, they would use you and your problem to have AA answer or solve it on a You Tube video.

Cynthia suggested that he might be interested to work on the thread trying to find Evelyn's mother ................ a problem that has involved many members for several years.

It was also suggested that AA should respond on the GR Board's re ANY problem that was submitted as so many people do not watch You tube, and have no intention of watching You tube.

Cyn also asked that question re Evelyn's thread on the one that you cited ........ to no effect, as you can see on there.

There was NO deadline posted on the GR stickied thread re the You tube video when I went to bed, which was, as I said, after 8 am UK time this morning (April 17. The thread was still there, 'cos I checked it.

Oh, were there different questions on it?

That's a shame - I thought the point of the exercise was that we were supposed to be able to learn from his expertise?

Surely if the previously undisclosed deadline had passed then GR could have made the thread so no new posts were added but we could at least have seen the questions.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 17 Apr 2013 21:37

No MC ,it was a stickied one on here...

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 17 Apr 2013 21:23

Not all of us were able to be around at the time.

That thread should have been left for others to see what the questions were so they'd be better informed when watching Anthony Adolph's answers later.

It would also have been a chance for us to look into the questions ourselves to see what we could come up with and compare our findings with his.

Oh hang on, is this it?
