have added GR to laptop and ipad.....but i dont know how to remove the "pics"that are on when i switch facebook,mail GR,Ancestry etc. Only really need em on the favourites bar.

Renes Report 14 May 2013 10:53

iPad is easy ... Hit the bookmark icon (top left- open book icon) Click edit .. ( RH side) little red no entry signs appear ... Tap in the sign ... Red delete appears .. Tap can also .. Put finger on the little shadow bars ( on the RH side ... No entry on left ) and slide hi up and down to rearrange the order ..

As DET says ... Right clicking on Laptop and delete delete

It may not work for all situations, but you could try this

Find your 'drop down' list of 'favourites' and look for the one you want to remove. Rather than click on it, do a right click and select 'delete'.

Elaine Report 14 May 2013 10:12

Googled it and done it! Now have up to date bookmark favourites on Chrome on laptop and Safari on iPad! Very chuffed with myself! Now just have to find out how to remove the first ones,cos I got 2 on comp and 2 on iPad! Lol

Hi Elaine - it all depends which browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc) as the technique is slightly different depending on which.

Do you have a row of little icons near the top of your screen, under the white box that shows the website address?

Elaine Report 13 May 2013 10:18

How do I do that MC? I don't know how to add favourites....if u explain,I will try myself,otherwise I will have to wait till I see my daughter.(I also don't know how to remove things from favourites bar)
Once I have done things a couple of times,then I am ok.

MarieCeleste Report 12 May 2013 23:27

Hi Elaine, it sounds like that when you've added GR to your favourites that you've done it while you've had a thread open and that thread has been subsequently been deleted. (I had something similar).

I'd suggest deleting that from your favourites and then creating a new one from perhaps the GR homepage.

Elaine Report 12 May 2013 22:51

ok...will look for it next time..i never took notice!

Usually i go to GR from my favourites bar

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 May 2013 22:14

Elaine - if you mean that when you post on a thread the page 'slides up' it is because there is a green band at the top of the page which says something like 'Post Added' which is then covered by the sliding up of the page....if you understand that convoluted explanation!

The Thread not existing might because you've come in via a cached result from when you started to type www.genesre.........etc

Elaine Report 12 May 2013 22:04

Why doe my info,when given,always "slide up"?

Also,when I go to GR,I get a red banner thing which says "ERROR..this thread does not exist!"

But I haven't gone onto a thread!

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 May 2013 19:45

That's good to have another source for confirmation Renes ;-)

Mind you, with rather a large tree on here, I think I'll give the full tree printout (if it's the same as it used to be) a miss. It was bad enough as far as sheets of paper were concerned when there were only about 40 people!

SylviaInCanada Report 12 May 2013 19:21

that sounds very hopeful :-)

Renes Report 12 May 2013 15:47

I was told last week at GR offices , that not only was the print function working, although not as yet released,

there will be a really super additional option for members, concerning printing

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 May 2013 09:46

Apparently the problems with printing a full tree are being actively addressed, but don't hold your breath for too long!

Rosemary Report 11 May 2013 22:15

It would also be nice to be able to print out family tree as I have done in past, albeit I have to stick it all together. Really would like a 'whole' tree - not just bits.

CupCakes Report 24 Apr 2013 08:05

GB/Maureen - shame about that - thought we could have met up for a cuppa.

GlitterBaby Report 23 Apr 2013 14:27

Thank you Natasha

I will contact the Team but I live more than 300 miles away so I will see what they have to say about doing something at home

Community Advisor Report 23 Apr 2013 11:13

Thanks Natasha

GlitterBaby Report 22 Apr 2013 12:39

The Team have all my details as I sent a letter of complaint to Head Office end of last year but I did not get an invite to the meeting.

CupCakes Report 22 Apr 2013 09:59

SylviaInCanada can we leave it as it is.
