The Book Club did send out PMs to successful applicants today. Haven't spotted anywhere on this site that there had been 'a problem' with the Book Club, just a deathly silence!

GR posted on FB that the problem with the Book Club is now resolved but nothing posted on this site telling members that books will be sent out. Once again they presume that everyone uses FB which they clearly do not.

No mention either of a Book Club for May so has this been dropped.

Also they are still not answering direct questions when posted on either site.

Still no sign of the new Community Manager.

Never seen any good offers on this site In the 5 years I have been on here

When I wanted to change from 6 monthly to annual standard sub because they wanted me to pay extra... I had to renew as a new member with no discount at all.

I did the same with FMP and they gave me the loyalty discount..... No quibble

They would have to give me platinum for the price of the standard sub to make it worth my while.... When I got a very good deal with FMP this year for ALL UK records not just a small part where most can be found for free on various sites

Alisoun, I did walk away from this site for about 4 years. Believe me it took a VERY good offer to get me back with platinum membership for a year.

It must be said, I don't use the platinum membership, everything I want to look at would cost me extra so I'm STILL paying out to view the records on another site.

Needless to say......it's highly unlikely that I will renew.

A while ago I received an email from GR. They offered a good deal for Findmypast. If that doesn't raise suspicions for the future of this site, what does?

We are all mature people. Irritation comes when customer service is poor. This is what is happening at the moment. Talk to us - if the partner offers and other add-ons have been withdrawn, then update the site. It could be a classic case of different sections not talking to each other.

What the Platinum subs offer on this site ?

Would not go near that with a barge pole ;-) especially as a lot of my rellies were Thames lighterman and waterman and one got the Doggetts Coat and Badge. .

You only have to read the General Chat Board and that would put off new members with the number of threads that get reported. Had you also spotted that the regular helpers seldom venture on to that board.

Most of the comments on this thread are from "older" members who have stuck by this site through all the problems and if GR can not take notice of what we are saying then it is a poor show from them.

what about the comments critisising new mananger + complaining

they throw negative light On GR too evenif some are supposed to be jokes !

some long term members are voting with their feet .

..eg.my sis not renewing her subs temporarily tempted back by a

fantastic Platinum subs offer ; a month well-used

(offer came up on Facebook ...or it was an email )

everything is not hunky dory ................. and we need to get a response for GR, and to let them know what some long term members are feeling


and your last suggestion would not get far before being removed once seen by GR. It would be considered as comparing this site unfavourably with another.

I didn't know there were offers regularly on here ..never seen them

.. if new members read this thread they will come away with a somewhat negative view of GR

is there a way to comment more positively

ie what great offers you have had in past + how you miss them

or" wouldn't it be nice if we had a similar offer to -------- other site"
