If Mary Farley born abt 1700 in Kent, links up with George Farley born abt 1617, father of William Farley born abt 1643 who married Ann Stedman, also a Fabyan Farley, who married a Jane Hungerford, then is some family, wow! Most of them it seems were born in a place called Molash in Kent, and some of the others were born in York. So Mary Farley married William Theobold, her parents were Henry Farley born abt 1676, and Ann Bradbridge, Henry parents were: William Farley born abt 1643 Kent, and Ann Stedman. Then it goes to William parents being: George Farley born abt 1617 and Beatrice Snow, then I think George parents were: Fabyan Farley and Jane Hungerford. If this is the correct family line... it would be brill, because Fabyan Farley and Jane Hungerford, come from a very interesting family line... Just need to confirm it.

Thanks very much AnnCardiff for that info about Theobold, amazing actually, I didn't know that! I'm getting very interested in my family link with Kent. Perhaps the Theobold you mentioned above is linked to my family.

Theobald of Bec (French: Thibaut du Bec; c. 1090 – 18 April 1161), sometimes known as Tedbald, was archbishop of Canterbury from 1139 to 1161. He was a Norman; his exact birth date is unknown. Some time in the late 11th or early 12th century Theobald became a monk at the Abbey of Bec, rising to the position of abbot in 1137. King Stephen of England chose him to be Archbishop of Canterbury in 1138. Canterbury's claim to primacy over the Welsh ecclesiastics was resolved during Theobald's term of office when Pope Eugene III decided in 1148 in Canterbury's favour. Theobald faced challenges to his authority from a subordinate bishop, Henry of Blois, Bishop of Winchester and King Stephen's younger brother, and his relationship with King Stephen was turbulent. On one occasion Stephen forbade him from attending a papal council, but Theobald defied the king, which resulted in the confiscation of his property and temporary exile. Theobald's relations with his cathedral clergy and the monastic houses in his archdiocese were also difficult.

I think I better start from the beginning again with Mary Farley born abt 1700 who married William Theobold. I'm sure her parents were: Henry Farley born abt 1676 and Ann Bradbridge. After that it seems to go to Henry's parents being: William Farley born abt 1643 and Ann Stedman, but not sure now after your posting info above AC.

Thanks very much AC for the above extra info, amazing! AC I have something big going on here... not just with The Roper family but with the Farley family from Kent, can you look into it for me, thanks. Starting with Mary Farley born abt 1700 in Molash Kent, she married William Theobold. Mary's parents were Henry Farley born abt 1676 in Kent, he married Ann Bradbridge. Henry Farley parents were: William Farley born abt 1643 he married Ann Stedman, then it goes to George Farley born abt 1617, he married Beatrice Snow. Get back further... and things seem to get very interesting with this Farley line... need to confirm it though.

Hi AnnC, I only put AnnC because I didn't fancy to keep writing your full name, however, just like to say thanks very much for ALL your help AnnCardiff. I can use AC and the other is fine too, brill! Seems there are various spelling of this surname:Shoobridge, nothing new there then. ;-) Regarding Elizabeth Roper and the person she married John Philpott, they both seemed to have been born in St. Dunston's, in Kent. This is where the other Sir/Lord Ropers' lived at some stage I think. There was also a Lord mayor of London , going way back... born in Kent, also with the name John Philpott, he may link to my John.
