One of my ancestors sisters was called Fanny Brain. Obviously, the family werent too fussed about explicit names for their children. Imagine what stick they'd of got at school. Ben

Hi I quited liked the one I came across today while searching the Hugh Wallis IGI site. Mr & Mrs Gotobed and another one I've seen several times. Call your daughter Rose, Primrose, Marigold, Daisy but how about Lettuce! Paul

Paul - you obviously didn't have a sister or other female rellie who read Bunty comic. One character I remember (en passant, and in the interests of research, you understand) was Lettice Leaf. I think as a girl's name it's normally spelt with an i not a u, so maybe the registrar wsn't familiar with the name. J
