LIVERPOOL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.mersey-gateway.org/server.php?show=ConNarrative.92 this is a link to the port cities site for starters ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- there are many history societies including the liverpool and south west lancs society>>>>>>>>> http://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/home.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Liverpool Record Office, Local Studies and Family History Service Central Library William Brown Street Liverpool L3 8EW Tel: 0151 233 5817 (enquiries) Tel: 0151 233 5811 (microform bookings) Fax: 0151 233 5886 (mark for attention of Record Office) Email: recoffice.central.library(AT)liverpool.gov.uk WWW: http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/ Contact: The place is being refurbished soon and all records are being digitised-all the parish records -everything-the project will take a year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Genuki site is very thorough in its liverpool parish names etc. If you have a particular surname try googling the surname with the word genealogy and liverpool-you'll find that quite a few people have done their own family sites, especially centering on the Victorian era in Liverpool when shipping was strong.

Hi Alter, Do you know where I would find BMDs for Brentford Middx? Is it in Hounslow now? Many thanks, Sylvia.

The Ego Report 9 Jul 2006 10:39

During Autumn 2006 West Yorkshire Archive Service, Bradford will be moving out of our Canal Road, Bradford premises, after the expiry of our lease. These premises have proved inadequate for a modern archive service in terms of both public access (under the Disability Discrimination legislation) and modern standards for archive storage (under British Standards: BS 5454) . We are therefore taking the opportunity to improve access for users and storage of collections by re-locating to Bradford Central Library. Co-location and increased co-operation between West Yorkshire Archive Service, Bradford and Bradford Local Studies Library will enable significant improvements to be made in public access to the local history and archive collections of the Bradford District. Statement on their website>>>>>>>>>>BRADFORD. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.archives.wyjs.org.uk/ try this link to get a picture of their resources.

Tel: 0845 456 2800 Fax: 0845 456 2880 Contact: James Marshall (Librarian) and Victoria Northwood (Heritage and Tourism Manager) Hounslow Library's local collection covers the London Borough of Hounslow excepting Brentford and Chiswick. There is a Brentford Library aswell that holds census stuff.....I would phone Chiswick library to double check for specific requirements-from reading all the guff, there are collections and resources split up all over the place-you might end up having to use Westminster Records Office which is very busy.....all these places need prior appointments just in case.......

Many thanks for that info, Alter. Very handy as Chiswick is just up the road from where I live. What would we do without such helpful people as yourself on these boards. Regards, Sylvia.
