Some people are never satisfied! Hats off to the people who took the time and effort to transcribe ALL the census. It was a thankless, time consuming, eye aching job.So what if there are mistakes - one only has to use a little common sense to read them and right the errors. To someone who has never heard of a place before and has to make a guess - I reckon they did a fantastic job. Quit the bitching and be thankful we have it at all. After all it is 165 years old.

I agree with Joan. I have looked at some pages which I knew were really faint and they have done a fantastic job with them. I am sure there will be many other pages which were impossible to enhance ........... thats probably why I can't find the two people I was most hoping to!! Anne

Meeson = Merson Boyard = Byeard for anyone else that might be looking for those names Linda

I think the transcribers have done very well - some of the pages are virtually illegible. But I've found Shilt for Shill Chonus for Chowns I've also found Barns for Barnes, but that was a mistake on the original census sheet! At least I've found them. My mystery William Gray in Norfolk is still missing and the dodgy London rellies my husband has are determined not to be anywhere. nell
