Hi Kat, thank you for your inform on my Jordan's you did ask where I got my inform from, well!!!.......I have a very old family tree written by someone, now long gone, of all the Jordan right back to 1500?? the family are very well documented in books and local history, (which I have checked)Susannah Jordan, now that I have checked! was married in 1836 in Worth she was my GGgrandmother, I have her inform right up to date, I have of course check this tree, with the IGI and the local parish records, from which I got the marriage and the children. so, I am pretty sure they all belong together lol I am guessing that the other girls were in service somewhere or married, it is Richard that I am now trying to trace, so I am thinking that the inform you gave me is correct.....hope that is of some help, as I feel you have a question flowing about in your head lol...... I might also add, I have meet 'other Jordan's from their Village who have the same tree as me. (well they would wouldn't they! lol) was the father Richard an arg Lab or a Sexton as it shows in another records do you know?.......many many thanks for all of your help with this.....Lilly

babs123 Report 19 Feb 2006 12:18

LILLY I just questioned the source because I thought maybe you had them altogether as a family on 1851 for example. If you had it would have been odd that they weren't altogether on 1841 as a family too. I expect that the girls were married or working then and perhaps Sarah being so young would have died unless you have later info on her? Kat

Maggie in Leics Report 19 Feb 2006 15:34

Hi, if you can help with this one would be eternally gratefull!! Looking for Charles Smith, Blacksmith, aged 35, born Mells, should be in Mells with his family. As far as I am aware, at that time he had two sons - John aged 11, and Thomas Austen aged 5 (both born Mells). There may also be a William aged 1 born in Midsomer Norton. Was told that Thomas's mother was a Martha - but in 1851 Charles is married to an Ann of Somerset. Working on a theory that Charles's first wife Martha (possibly from Kent) died around 1837. If you can tell me who the wife/mother of the family was in 1841 - and where/when she was born that would be fab!! p.s. just realised from the birth place of William, the family could be in Midsomer Norton. Thanks. p.p.s. had already put a note on the records office and Elaine in Spain has found them for me in Midsomer Norton so thanks anyway - now all i need to do is find out if Charles did first marry a Martha!! p.p.p.s. It appears that I have broken one of the informal rules of posting that those of us who don't post often are unaware of!! In the time it took me to go back and delete my request on the records board once I found this offer, elaine had answered it - then came back here to cancel this request and say thanks for offering anyway - but it appears that the minute or so it took me to change boards was too long!! Apols for upsetting Kathy - as I so obviously have - but I did try very hard not to!! Honest!!
