I can't remember the name of the 'service' but there is a credit card equivalent to a direct debit but with very none of the protection on direct debits. If you have opened one of these then the company can debit what they want from your card and it can be quite difficult to stop. Certainly a couple of years ago the bank was unable to just stop payments because they did not know what contract you had made. It obviously can be misused by dodgy companies especially when they are foreign companies. They are called Continuous Payment Authority. MB

Hi Elaine longtime since I have seen you but I haven't been on tips for ages really. Hope you are well? Can you please let me know the site also :-) Hi Gary, Just like to discuss about the copy and paste and the way this site has been successful in getting away with look ups etc., I cannot for the life of me understand it all, how it continues on such a regular basis is beyond me. It does make me wonder why and how? is it because it really because it affects the individuals on here that help others rather than the website itself? so that the people doing the physical look ups and doing their best to help are liable & will be charged etc., rather than the big guys? Pat x

can anybody tell me why this is the only website that allows people doing look ups to copy and paste the results straight from another website, this is illegal, you can spot them a mile away they offten have View Records in them and the names in no order, and also to advertise to send images too, which is illegal Roots Chat will remove any census look up copyed and pasted from a website and you have to site the copyright to the National Archives, why are they so paranoid, do they know something about the law the people on this site do not know about, i can one day see Ancestry stoping this and this site possably even being removed for allowig this to happen, it is no different than allowing people to copy music and send it to each other.

I think you should give their name, it will give them bad publicity - who wants to deal with a company like this. I can never understand why, if you have paid for units you cant use those in any way you want. They arent losing out - the units have been paid for. I am always amazed that Ancestry, which is a huge corporation, doesnt seem to notice the number of look ups on here. But I think they understand that once someone realises the resources available on ancestry through a look up they very quickly take out a sub.
