Greeting's Again Marlene..... Just had a look through my disks for Cotton Marriages in Shepshed around 1800 ish.... But couldn't tie any in on that date ..... There is one on the I.G.I. though.:- 26th. December 1791. John Cotton. ~ Sarah Thorpe. Shepshed. By Banns. Did spot this interesting one You know how they liked to name Siblings after their own names :- REBECCA MOUNTENEY. ~ Thomas Cotton. Shepshed. But the year is 1819. By Banns. Do you have the Marriage certificate for John & Rebecca then as you know the date ? Or would you like me to see what details I can find out from the Parish Registers next time I'm at Wigston ? MIKE. ***NOTICE *** Can we wait till PART SEVEN to this thread is up and running before anymore posts are added. Thanking you.....

I have the marriage cert. for Mary Marriott 25/12/1858 married William Iliff Shenton Parish Church. Father of Mary listed as William dec. No father for William Iliff. On the 1851 census Mary is living as a lodger with Richard Abell unmarried farmer. Her sister Jane is listed as living as a lodger with his father Samuel. I know nothing about these people other than above, could you check the 1841 census for any listings. Think the Marriotts always lived in Shenton. After her marriage Mary moved to Wolvey. Her first son Samuel was born in Shenton She died around 1878. I have the information from the 71-91 census. I am interested in her daughter Lydia who married into the Goss family. Thanks JoJo.
