Robert -

There's some sort of fault with the GR website today - it won't let me open your PM to me.

Nor will it let me send you a PM to tell you about this!

I hope it's just a temporary blip, and not something else stopped working on GR.

I'll let you know if/when I'm able to open your message.

EDIT:

It may be a problem with your message rather than with GR as a whole, as I see I'm able to open PMs from other people.
You haven't cancelled your membership, or deleted the message, have you?

Maybe try sending your message again, in the hope it works on a second attempt.

EDIT again:

Thanks Robert - I'll pass your address on to the tree owners.
There's no guarantee that they'll contact you, of course - good luck!

Robert -
if you'll send me a PM to let me know your email address, I'll send it on to the two tree owners and ask them to contact you.

Thank you patchem and Argy/Gran for all the information you have posted. I would be most appreciative if you could contact the tree owner on my behalf as I do not have a subscription to Ancestry.

Oh, I didn't notice it.

Well, that's that sorted, then - thank goodness!
Good find, Patchem.

Robert -

I understand Patchem has sent you a private message to let you know we've found a lot of info re Mary's family.

It's frustrating that we haven't been able to find out anything about Mary after her marriage.
If Ian is able to tell you anything about her, perhaps you'll come back to this thread and let us know?

Well, even though we can't find what happened to Mary after her marriage to James Scoular, at least you do know that her nephew Ian is on a couple of private trees on Ancestry, Robert.

If you don't have a sub to Ancestry and would like one of us to contact the tree owners on your behalf, please let us know.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 23 Jul 2017 23:43

Just for good measure - though it doesn't help the hunt for Mary:

In 1911, James W Scoular (Mary's future husband - assuming he's the one born in Camlachie 1910)), was living in Camlachie, Glasgow, with John (29), Janet (30), and Edward (19).

I assume Janet and John were his parents and Edward his uncle.

Or maybe Edward was his father, and Janet & John his uncle and aunt.

I haven't used credits to see the image, so can't see the relationships.

I agree that it means Townsend, and that it is only for Mary as a middle name as I, and ancestry, misread the twiddley bits.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 23 Jul 2017 18:30

I think "Towsit" only applies to Mary, and is probably a mis-spelling or abbreviation of Townsend.
