Debra, if you are still willing to do a look up I would appreciate if you are able to try 1920 census for Mary E Gannon, she would be 31, born c1889 in Co.Sligo, Ireland. When she arrived in New York in May 1911 she gave the address of her Uncle James Judge, 1361 2nd Avenue, New York as her residence. Of course she may have married in the meantime and I have no idea of her married name. If this is not sufficient information or it will be troublesome to look for please just ignore this. It is a bit of a long-shot. Thank you anyway. Kathleen

Hi Deb, Just wondering if you could help with a couple of long shots. Florence BRIDGES born Norwich, Norfolk, England 1870, parents James BRIDGES and Honor, nee HAZELL. She was with them on the 1881 census, but disappears. As her older sister emigrated, perhaps she did too? Memoir BARTLE, also mistranscribed on the 1891 census as Bartle, Lanora V 2 born Shildon, Durham Daughter Middridge Durham She was said to have been a cook / chef? in New York before coming on to New Zealand. Thanks very much. I subscribe to Ancestry, but not to the US part. Sue (in NZ)

Thanks Deborah John, Edith and Nellie Maynard (John b. 1902, Nellie 1906 and Edith somewhere in between, John had wife Vera b 1903 with him, Edith and Nellie both single at the time) arrived in Quebec by ship in June 1929. John was back in UK by 1934 cos he re-married, but would love to know if there was any info on them while they were in Canada. Edith remained in Montreal, Nellie ended up in Ontario but not sure when either of them married or when Nellie went to Ontario. Sorry if all that's a bit vague but the National Archives of Canada has thrown up nothing other than their immigration details. Many thanks Lou

Hi Debra Are you ready for this???????????? No, he re-married in England, although there's some debate about where the 1st wife, Vera, actually died and when. Have been unable to locate a death rec here in the UK that fits. What I have is that they landed in Quebec 15th June 1929 off the Montroyal Canadian Pacific (or close to that), John with wife Vera and their 2 children, Margaret and Joan. John's 2 sisters, Edith and Nellie, were with him and possibly more of the Maynards. Sometime between arriving in Canada and arriving back in the UK, a child DONALD was born to John and Vera but this may have been on the ship on the way back. He certainly wasn't born and registered in the UK. John re-married in OND 1934 here in the UK, but Edith and Nellie definitely stayed in Canada. Edith married Frank ??? in Montreal, Nellie ended up in Guelph in Ontario, married name LACE until her death in 1988. If this is all going to be a major headache for you, don't bother, I'm just running out of places to try to get info Thanks Lou Debra Just found this on National Archives Canada Immigration: Maynard Joan 11m En 1929 2 Maynard John 26 En 1929 3 Maynard Margaret 6 En 1929 4 Maynard Patience 25 Wel 1929 5 Maynard Terence 24 En 1929 6 Maynard Vera 25 En 1929 7 Maynard William 43 En 1929 Nellie went to Canada in 1929 as Nellie Lace so assume she married in England but remained in Canada. Can't remember hubbie's 1st name though!
