Hello I have a birth cert (24 May 1859) for Charles Harrison COCKS, whose parents were James COCKS, waiter (or that's what it looks like), & Caroline Elizabeth nee WHITEHEAD. The address is given as 65, Brownlow St, Liverpool In October 1853, when James & Caroline got married in Alverstoke, Hants, he was described as "Widower, Mariner, HMS Highflyer, of full age" and she as a spinster of Gosport, also "of full age". You will imagine that I shall be quite pleased (classic English understatement!) if they should appear on the 1861 census records for Liverpool with some useful age & where-from info! At the moment I really can't tell where they're from - either of them, 'cos her father was also a "mariner". (His was a coalmerchant, according to the marriage cert). And I don't have a DoB for either of them. thanks Christine

Diane there is a death on Freebmd of a David Samuels registered at West Derby in 1866 age 57...could he be yours? If so, you would have an address from the death certificate. There is also a younger David Samuels whose death was registered at West Derby in 1893 but he was only 35. Sue

SueS Report 12 Jul 2004 16:51

for Paul do you mean Comus Street? By the way, I know several people who have had the 1851 surname index for Liverpool for ages....long before the full census CDs came out. for Diane couldn't see your Samuels in Bond St. Will look for another address if you have one. Sue
