Have input my tree, I wanted to build a website for my family tree for ages, but did not have a clue how to go about it, this was so easy. I wanted something that looked professional and easy to navigate, this has it all. Very recommended. Amanda P.

Dwane Dribbles aka Joe in the Snow Yes - I've had the same trouble with the invitation emails, and I sent one to myself too! Did this get sorted out? I also have a question for anyone else experienced in the site. When I was uploading photographs yesterday, they were immediately appearing in my albums. However, today, the ones I've uploaded, I am still told, are 'being processed', after several hours. How long does it take? Another question is, I composed a piece for my home page for the 'About ...'. This still hasn't appeared - do you think it has been lost in the ether, or am I being a little impatient?!

Susie (if your IE settings for privacy and security are at default. you should be OK in that way) I know I might be daft, but you haven't mixed up your passwords have you? I mean the administrator and access ones. It's just a thought. (Personally I don't have an access password as I can't see the point of having a website and then stopping people looking at it) Bob

So you can view your site but can't edit it? If so have you got access to another computer? You could try logging on there. This will indicate if the problem is with TB or something on your machine. It's too good a site to give up on. Have you deleted all your temporary internet files etc? Bob

Congratulations Susie! Lets all have a look then!. There is a message board/ forum on the TB site (though not a good as these) They seem to argue a lot as well! It has some technical queries which can be of use. Bob

Thank you good folks for letting me know via this forum about the TP website! I have just joined and done some of the family tree. Wonderful site! I have put a password on but think I shall take it off again, as I agree - what is the use of having the thing if no one can look at it? Just wondered what others thought about that topic. How do you publicise it with the surnames so that anyone interested in the same names can be alerted to it? Tyne

Amanda Report 28 Feb 2004 02:57

Tyne, If you go to the main page for TP, at the top right hand corner you can type in on the search box for one of your surname interests. It will then bring up a list of family trees that have your surname interest in them. At the bottom of this page it asks if you would like to add your family tree to the search engine for TP. If I remember correctly you then click on Click Here and it asks for your user name and password. After that it's all over, it does take the site a while to be updated, I put my tree into the search engine a few days ago and it still has not been added yet but the site does say this will be done when they next update. As for adding a password, I don't see the point, I want people to see my tree, so that I can hopefully find as many connections as possible. I just make sure that living persons have only first initials, last names and no dates or places where born, married etc, to be seen and I also have their permission (very important).

This password thing has been the subject of big arguments on their forum but as Amanda says with the living person controls( in settings you can choose not to display names or DOB fo living persons) it is pointless. Having to e-mail someone to view their tree is a pain. The basic information about our ancestors is public domain and doesn't belong to anybody (dead ones that is). Bob

Not sure if I'm stating the obvious here, but I've got my TribalPages site saved as a Favourite and, as I only have to click on it in my favourites list, I haven't once had problems accessing the site. I have sent out various invitations and haven't received much response - but whether that's because the invitations are not working or my contacts (who I, of course, assumed would be just as excited as me about their ancestors!) just haven't bothered to get excited I'm not sure!!! I've put a whole load of photos on my site now - and that's made such a difference. It's really brought everyone to life, so to speak!
