Hi, I haven't read the whole thread so apologise if this has already been asked/answered.

Is Sissy a name in its own right or is it a pet name/short for something?

Has anyone ever had an Elizabeth known as Beatrice? I think I may have found it in my tree. Born Elizabeth but on census as Beatrice?

I have now found that Nance was Beatrice
Can't see the connection myself, but my ancestors didn't make anything easy for me.

One of the favourite name differences in my tree is my uncle. When we were kids we all called him Uncle Jack and he was referrred to as such when our parents talked to us about him. However - the grown-ups always called him John! It wasnt till I was researching the family history that I found out he was actually named Edwin!
