Purple. I have read through all of these posts they are all so very moving. My husband passed away seven years ago after a very short illness. We had been married for thirty eight years. We grew up together, and looked forward to and planned spending our old age together.

There comes a time when we have to let go of the grief but hold onto the memories. My life is different now, so much has changed, but I am happy and I know that is what my husband would want for me.

I didn't mean to upset anyone by nudging this thread.

I am glad you had such a loving relationship with your Mother in Law that you miss her still, she really must have indeed been a lovely lady.

I recall my last Christmas with my Dad, who was dying of lung cancer, he rallied for Christmas and my parents' 44th Wedding Anniversary on the 29th but couldn't carry on fighting and lost his battle in late January, very close to the anniversary of my daughter's birth and death within four days. A very emotional time for me.

Thinking of all those people mourning and grieving at this time of traditional family get togethers.

Hi Liz, It did not upset me you nudging up this thread. I always shed a small tear for her on this day as she is still sorely missed not just by us but everyone who knew her.

I also remember my dearest Dad who lost his fight to Stomach and liver cancer on 15th December 1969. Another star in heaven <3

If you must weep, then weep not long,
In memory keep my love still strong,
But please remember, one thing just,
I have gone, which all we must
And though my leaving may cause pain
My joy is greater
That you remain.

Sent to me when my Brother died in August

'Remember me' is one of my favourites, Lynda. I hoped the thread would be of help to you, if not to use one of the verses, just to read and take a little comfort. it was 23 years on Wednesday last that I lost my Dad to cancer at the age of 79, so can feel for you altho I knew we were losing him when he was diagnosed the previous autumn. Your loss was sudden and not what you expected when your poor Dad had his fall.

This was read last month at the funeral of someone very dear to me ~

Letter from Heaven

To my dearest family
Some things I'd like to say.
But first of all to let you know
That I arrived OK.

I'm writing this from Heaven
Where there's no more tears or sadness
There is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy
Just because I'm out of sight
Remember that I'm with you
Every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you
When my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me
And he said "I welcome you".

Then God gave me a list of things
He wished for me to do
And foremost on that list of mine
Is to watch and care for you.

So when you're walking down the street
And you've got me on your mind
I'm walking in your footsteps
Only half a step behind.

And when you feel a gentle breeze
Or the wind upon your face
That's me giving you a great big hug
Or just a soft embrace.

And when it's time for you to go
From that body to be free,
Remember you're nog going
You are coming here to me.

And I will always love you
From that land way up above
Will be in touch again soon.

PS God sends his love

Lilybids, I am so sorry that you lost your dear Aunt, who has been with you all your life, and especially that it happened on your birthday, she was determined you wouldn't forget the date that was so special to both of you.

I can't really say Happy Birthday but I hope you found comfort in the greetings you received before people knew of the sadness today would bring, knowing you are and were loved is heartwarming and I hope you have had people with you today to support you and help you through.

May your Aunt rest in peace now and keep you safe from above.

Scozz, thanks for adding to this thread, I had thought of nudging it when our Harry told of his loss of Audrey the other day but didn't get round to it.

I hope as always the verses will help comfort and even cheer those who are sad and missing loved ones.

Take care all, your loved ones are never far away.
