Gill has mentioned two great men from her home town - John Newton and William Cowper (pronounced Cooper). Newton made his money as Captain on slave ships and ended his days as a great friend of the most gentle and lovely poet Cowper. My life has mirrored Newton to a small degree. We can change a lot. ;-)

Ernest Rutherford was born in Spring Grove, Nelson, New Zealand on the 30th August 1871.
I live about 15 mins from there in Stoke, Nelson, NZ :-)
