Didn't get a chance to use my pass on holiday so might start this coming week when I want to go into the city centre, depends on the weather as so much easier to take the car than plod round in the rain but with the price of petrol, a free pass sounds just the ticket lol

You are quite right - I am a whippersnapper of a youngish thing at 51 but have a disability which entitles me to one. And at the price the buses are in Bristol I am extremely grateful.lol

Got to go and get a temporary one from the Civic Centre in Southampton, as they are not issuing them until September.

I recently had my passport photo taken, and your not allowed to smile! so my "jowls" are nearly on my shoulders! and I had to whip my specs off at the speed of light, so the picture is not flattering, I bet they wont believe my age and say your much older than you say!!LOL

Oh, Bob, they did that to me when I got my college ID card about 5 years ago! I walked into the registry, said I'd come to get my card (weighed down by an A1 portfolio, coat hanging off my shoulders, hair tied back which doesn't flatter me on photos) and she just picked up a digital camera and snapped me!

The flash bounced off my glasses so you can't see my eyes properly and - owing to the stuff I was carrying, my shoulders look lopsided. Why do they do it to us? It's cruel.

Apart from which, it wasn't even a white background so it looks even more gloomy! She didn't even give me chance to smile.

I think as long as the route starts in the county you are OK not sure, now it is national but we can go from Glos to Ledbury in Worcs. There was somebody in our local paper travelling from Penzance to carlyle, they were in Glos on their way. they had it planned with B&Bs booked along the way and planned to do it in 8 days I think. You'd have to travel fairly light.

You are so right there Maz. When we used to visit my OH's sister who lives near Cleethorpes we found it bloomin perishing up there - could not get warm. It is def. colder as you get higher up the country. It was nice to come back home just for the warmth of the west country. Tina x

Hi Liz
LOL - I know exactly how you feel. I look like death on my photograph. I do have to say that I was not feeling 100% when I had my photograph taken and it jolly well shows. As you say we will just have to give a very broad cheesy smile when we step onto the buses!

I am so excited about getting mine that I do not know where to travel first LOLOL!

Go for it !
We have quite a long distance bus route along the south coast, - one bus Dover, Kent to Hastings, Sussex and possibly onto Eastbourne? so quite a few more pensioners will be using that, I'd guess.

I hope that it is feasible for people to have great days out now that the journey is free.
Sadly many out-lying areas have poor bus services but if pensioners now use the surviving ones, they won't be cut too.
