OH told me last night we are going to a Golden Wedding party some time in July (he couldn't be more precise!)

This couple seem to have everything already - any suggestions for a present? I know what he would like (brandy) but no idea about her, or a joint present.

All ideas welcomed.

What about a day out somewhere, or a meal paid for? And maybe a photo of the day in a gold frame for them!

Depends on their interests and how much you want to pay. How about a yellow standard rose if they have a garden. I think there is a shrub rose called golden wedding. there is also a rose called golden showers.

Friends parents had their golden wedding at a time when I was particularly borassic.Local farmer, a particularly good bloke, grew daffodils. He let me pick fifty and I had their wedding certificate photo-copied and stuck it on some gold card. Had the daffodils not been free they would only have had the certificate.
Could you do something like that but grander.Maybe a framed copy with a newspaper of the same date.
If they have everything you could buy an Oxfam voucher in their name for people who don't.

Thanks ladies. The rose sounds like a good idea, or the newspaper...

OH doesn't do presents. In fact I'm currently waiting to see if he has remembered our wedding anniversary. He knows it's coming up and he knows it's the same date as his Mum's birthday, but no-one will tell him when it really is...

I came up with a brill idea - I think so anyway - for my in-laws Golden Wedding. Got a large box, lined it and covered it with gold paper and then went to the supermarket and bought everything with the word Gold in it - Terry's All Gold, Golden Shred, Golden Syrup, Kerry Gold, Gold Blend coffee and so on - you would be surprised how many things there are to fill a gold box - just a suggestion anyway - they had everything and didn't really need anything, so this I felt was useful.

That sounds a good idea Ann...for somebody who has it all.

I gave my inlaws a teapot, they needed one so I pit a gold ribbon round it and gave them a gold rimmed photo frame.

When my OH cousin had his Golden Wedding, we had a really lovely flower arrangement made of all Gold Flowers.
His wife told me that it lasted well over two months.I think it cost us about £30.

For my Aunt and Uncles Golden Wedding, I bought them a beautiful photo frame which had written at the bottom - in gold - Our 60th Anniuversary. I took a photo of them cutting their anniversary cake and they put it in the frame. It has pride of place on their mantelpiece.

Is a Golden wedding anniversary 50 or 60 years? My Mum & Dad celebrate 60 years in September, we are getting the queen to send a card (dont think she actually pops down the mall to the postbox herself but hey ho) and are having a meal, hopefully will get a limo to take them to and from the restaurant, but cant think what else to do

For my Aunt and Uncle's we brought them vouchers for tea at the Ritz, so they could book up and go when they wanted to. For a friend we broght the golden wedding rose in a nice pot to go in their garden. AL

Are you good at taking photographs???

What about a nice album and then take a picture of everyone at the party and get them to write in the album next to where the picture will go. You would have to be organised about who wrote what and where but it makes a very personalised present.

Or get your fellow guest to sign a photo mount and then get a picture of the happy couple. The professional photographer at our daughters wedding did this it looks fantastic. You do not have to spend a fantastic amount on the fames WHSmiths and Tescos do some good ones

Have a good time at the party whenever it is :o))

I love those digital photograph frames, they have some really good ones in P.C.World and you can make a slide show to display their life together.

Great fun at any party!
