A three-year-old girl as fragile as a 'tiny porcelain doll' died in squalor after being starved and neglected by her cruel mother and stepfather, a court was told.

Tiffany Hirst was 'unloved, unwanted and left to die alone' in her bedroom above a pub run by the parents.

The sad little girl would be seen by passers-by staring out of the first floor window. She was stopped from going to nursery and kept away from other children of her age, yet tragically no one intervened to save her.




I don't have words to describe how I feel about her parents :0(

The manslaughter charges against her step dad have been dropped as it is said that the week befoe she died he started a new job working 12 hours a day and didn't get home til past 6pm so may nto have been fully aware but he did have a duty of care towards the child.

They moved form the pub were Tiffany was found into another one in Barnsley

Neither of them have ever given any answers as to why she died

I'm just appalled. I really don't understand how in this day and age these poor kids are slipping through the net like this. It has brought tears to my eyes.

As for the parents.....I'd bl**dy well love five mins alone in a room with that pair I really would....

Oh what a shame,the poor wee thing.
That should be treated as murder surely,how could they.

Mother is charged with Manslaughter on the grounds of gross negligence as the court was told it was not certain that the Mother was aware that her actions would kill her daughter - the mind boggles doesn't it!!

Social services went in Feb 2007 and said Tiffany appeared healthy and well-------------------OK so what happened to them checking between Feb and Sept when she died??

like iv said many times before some people dont deserve chilren and it defo should be MURDER

food and clothes are so cheap nowadays there is no need for a child to be starved and unkept

im disgusted

back in the seventies there was an horrific case of child cruelty and murder of a little girl called Maria Caldwell - at the time there was public outcry as you would expect and it was stated that this kind of thing would never be allowed to happen ever again and here we are over thirty years later and it's no better, in fact I feel it's worse

This little mite died last September,,its too appalling for words,,how does it happen ?its beyond all parenting,

You would think somebody would have noticed she was negleted her ie family or friends.Unless their family had nothing to do with them.

everyone off those peopel who passed by and saw her deserve hanging too when i was as young as 13 and babysitting i reported the family , the mothers boyfrined told me his punishment treatment

a big problem today is kids having kids with no idea whatsoever how to look after them and no role models to guide them - family unit completely broken down

I wouldn't DREAM of harming my kids .......however......if I did ANYTHING bad to them, my parents would be down on me like a tonne of bricks and rightly so.

My Dad throws me daggers if I so much as reprimand one of them in his presence fgs !!

The family didn't bother with them after the stepdad came along ( city gossip )

They stopped her going out again when the step father came along - eg nursery etc

According to family up until the step father came on the seen she was a much loved baby and toddler

Theres a lot of strange people out there.

Thats it,,,where's the family,,,you go to visit,,first thing you ask,,wheres ??bed oh OK,,,many times of that then you would begin to wonder why you hadnt seen them for months on end,,,,,,,,,,,I would,,,,,,,,,,!!
