That Lord Nelson..(battle of Trafalgar)..
was stored in a barrel of brandy..( I would like to point out he was disceased at time!)..This was to return hum back home..Alcohol was used a lot for preserving bodies..
The sailors however syphoned off the brandy with a piece of macaroni..(used it as a straw!)..Myth?..possibly!

Another name for snail used to be "wall fish"....this has something to do with the not eating meat on a Friday issue. Snails are a sort of meat I suppose but not if they are called fish.........?
