To get the full effect from them they need to be permenantly on,switching on and off as you normally do with the other bulbs, does,t save at all,its just another con job.**M**.

Kate,They must be a different type of Ladder I prefer to climb. :o)>.**M**.Re the Bulbs and Mercury,They are supposed to be sent to a special disposal place, they cost more to make and do not last as long as they are perported to,also they flicker very fast which can affect certain people.M.

That reminds me of my degree show, Jean.Last year, on our plan of key dates was "ladder training" - I assumed it must be some kind of team-building exercise.

It was a forty-minute demonstration by the campus health and safety officer on how to climb ladders! (Complete with the horror stories of people who climbed up them holding a craft knife/scissors/ nails in the mouth and how they got injured as a result.)

The health and safety rules forbid the verger in our church from getting up a steps to change alight bulb, it has to be done by two qualified people! I ask you, where do you get qualifications to change a light bulb, I must have been doing it wrong for years!
It would be nice if it was possible to describe a taste properly as there are quite a few things my OH says he doesnt like when I know he has never tried them. Jean

Merlin, the newfangled lightbulbs contain mercury so it is a matter of time before Health and Safety get involved with the "changing the lightbulb" scenario !

Errol,re the Light bulb,They,d more than likely have to form a new "Quango" on changing lightbulbs, before they could instruct you, complete with all the Health and Safety Rules. to go with it. **M**.:o)>

Pat, I had this vision of the mandarins of the EU speaking to Banana trees in English/French and German and totally confusing them so they grew straight to try to listen.

Pat Kendrick Report 17 Jun 2008 12:15

Forgive my ignorance but I did not know you could grow straight bananas. Every picture I have seen of bananas on a tree have the bananas curved same with a bunch of bananas in supermarkets. perhaps the EU will talk to the trees about growing them straight.
We are living in a totally mad world all I care about is the taste not the shape.
