I have to say I'm with you Tory,
When I was a child my Mum worked as a cook at Riseholme Agricultural college just near us and I regularly saw the utter devastation that foxes caused to the geese and chickens. A sad sight that I will never forget.They seem to kill for the helluva it. they only want one, but rip the lot apart.
I would watch the hounds go out and think yea get those Bl***y things. Just wish I had known stronger language back then.
Don't mean to offend just the way I feel being an "on the edge of the country lass".
Then I also have to clear up after my neighbours cats have ripped pigeons and magpies to shreds on our patio!!! She feeds the birds so she can feed her cats I reckon. LOL
Tricia xx

Yes your right the lambs are slaughtered but if you read the post you will see they don't just kill to survive they just kill and can do it in large numbers to .You have your opinion and I have mine LF we will have to agree to disagree on this I think

yer but tory
those little lambs are gonna be our dinner anyway,
so our survival is as much thiers too
its a way of life .
ppl that kill to feed us humans aint bothered that a fox has killed its stock but bothered coz they cant sell it .
its all the way of life and a way of living

It is a fair point Tory..they are a nuisance..in the havoc they cause..
Animals generally have these mannerisms..
I left the lid off my bin one night..hubby got up in the morning thinking we had been burgled..remnants..paper all over the shop!..I love cats!

Or if you lose a much loved pet to them.
We had a spate of young cats going missing in my neighbourhood and although it was never proved it was believed that the foxes took them.

Thats just the problem they don't just take one and eat it though they will kill many and leave them .

When you have had to go round picking up the lambs ,phesants ,chickens or whatever that they have gone in and killed then your view changes :-)

~~~I would send my hubby out in his boxers with a torch to shoot them..I couldnt shhot them myself...
~~~foxes are carnivores at the end of day..they furrage for food..they have equal rights to living too..
It will always be debatable regarding shooting them..but this has happened for generations..If I had a happy fox family living at the bottom of my garden I wouldnt have a prob..if they were eating my livelihood..its a different story..
Its all part of the food chain..

I have heard of them in urban areas taking cats and kittens and of course rabbits. I have a friend who has now got some rabbits as his cousin lost two to the foxes and did not have a garage to secure them in.

i do think its cruel to kill them
i know they are a pain and it probably has to be done .
but if they eat chickens or whatever its their way of survival, just like what we eat its our way
arrr poor little things (they r a pain but i stil feel sorry for em and i feed em and i feed em good lol)

If i was farming then i would probably have a different view of it as i say my brother does shoot them as they kill his chickens, and geese, and shooting is the most humane way.

but they cause me no problems so i leave them alone.

I have lived in the country...and got used to night time noises..owls..birds tweeting..foxes..
I would rather that, than city noises..helicopters..police cars and ambulances chimimg..which I now sleep through!

tory Report 17 Jun 2008 00:50

Foxes are a pain they are brazen entreing the barns at lambing and have killed so many this year so my view on them is completly differant to city folk

lol Lilly if you sent your OH out with a touch every time you heard a noise out here he would never sleep
