When my ex died we took him into the crematorium on 'You're The Only One',he was a big fan of Roy Orbison. At the end of the ceremony we all filed out not knowing whether to let go or not but when 'It's Over' came over the tannoy we had no choice.I still have no choice when I hear it.

When my then OH went off with a friend of mine 'their' song was 'Smoke gets in your eyes' they got the record -vinyl in those days- and I found it and broke it, also threw all their clothes out of the car in the middle of Porthcawl - didn't do any good, he still left me with two tiny tots..............however good came of it, some years later I met my present OH and we are still together after 31 years, and three more kids........the other song that was being played everywhere at that time was 'bye bye Miss American Pie.'........a long time before that stopped bringing back bad vibes.

Hi - there's a song called Honey by Bobby Goldsborough or someone like that, I cry everytime I hear it, also 'Bright Eyes' by Simon & Art Garfunkle.

Mona Lisa by Nat King Cole.He was one of my aunt's favourite singers, she used to sing this a lot way back.We played this track at her cremation. Can't listen to it anymore
Opthelia/Lily mentions Eva Cassidy, her version of Fields of Gold reduces me to tears too.

The song that really does it for me is "Missing you" which was the regi/rap version of the Police song "Watching You". It became number 1 in July 1997 the week my 17 year old son died.

His friends had it played on all the local radio stations and, of course, it was the song for the funeral. Even now I cannot listen to it without crying.

the chorus is

Every step we take
Every move we make
Every single day
Every time we pray
We'll be missing you.

I also find it difficult to listen to "Watching You" by Polcie because the music is the same.

don't care for Christmas carols much either - spent Christmas in hospital when I was pregnant with my son - had suffered many miscarriages and was threatening again so had to stay in over Christmas. Only about half a dozen of us on a very big ward, everyone able to go home had gone. Then the local High school children came in one evening with a guitar and sang carols and everyone of us bawled our eyes out!!! Poor kids must have felt dreadful, they'd come to give us some Christmas cheer - little did they know the effect they would have on us!!!
