noy spoke to you befor hun but no what your going thourgh my hub is 50 and got made redundent at end of dec after only 5 years and my two sons worked with him and there redundent was feb for one who had just tuck a morgage on and the othere is redundent the end of this month so we had three of them all this year .but hub and one sone are now working in asda warhouse we were luckey our morgage ended in april 08 felt sorry foe son he has two babys and a 20-25 year morgage on his head but hope this job helps him .the othere son is moving to hull to get a job by girl frend. so the is always light at end of tunel hun if my hub at 50 can get a job well think positive take care it will work out you see us oldies have the staying power am not saying your old by the way bernie

Bernie thanks hun hope things work out for your OH and sons. My OH is a pipefitter/engineer and with all the refineries round here and other sites hes worked on away I dont think it will be long before he finds something.

Hi Jax sweetheart - so very sorry to hear about your problem - do I take it this is all because of the fuel crisis? If it is I'm sure it will all be resolved quickly and things can get back to normal. Obviously living where you do, choice, if there is any in employment choice down there, is quite limited. However, do what I always do, expect the worst and hope for the best and I'm sure it'll happen.

Ann no its not to do with the fuel thing the company he was working for got outbid for the LNG contract so are laying men off as they only have a few weeks work left on the site. If needs be he will work away again its not easy but he dont mind cos he can go down the pub every night lol

Sorry to hear that Jax.

My OH was made redundant about four times, and each time he went and got temp work. The last temp job turned into permanent, he learned a new trade, got a good pension, better than before.

Now retired, but we look back, and realise that being made redundant was a blessing in disguise, as he did better for himself,although we did not think so at the time.
