Hello. Next week I'm due to have a hysterectomy; everything removed. This morning, I'm very tearful thinking about it. It's not the operation itself I'm thinking about, it's the loss of something I've carried with me all my life. |

I haven't had it done myself, but I can understand where you're coming from, if you've had children? it's what carried and nourished that precious life, if not it's still a bit part of a womans femaninity and hard to say goodbye to. |

Hi Glenys, I had the same op as you are having a few years ago. I was quite calm going in because it needed to be done because of ovarian cyst that was giving me pain. They decided to remove everything because with my age I wouldn't be needing them anymore. |

I haven't had this op either but I can so understand how you are feeling. I would feel the same way, losing the opportunity to have more babies even though I am too old now. I really feel for you too. |

Hiya Glenys, I had mine done last year, due to ovarian cyst(very painfull), but i tell you what love, its the best thing that happened to me, no more mood swings and all the CR*p that goes with it, I got on HRT asap and feel great now! I took the advice of other women on here, as i was really worried myself, and I think we all agree its much better, and you get at least 5 weeks of being waited on hand and foot!! longer if you milk it!! LOL |

I had a complete hysterectomy 6 years ago when I was 45. I was asked if I wanted to keep my ovaries and I said no. |

Haven't had it done but have three friends who have had the op at various ages, and all are fine now, lots better than before. |
