Eldrick

Eldrick Report 19 Jun 2008 21:53

It's what separates us from them. We have a justice system, and we have laws. We have human rights that are by and large observed. We have treaties that we have signed and we have judiciary that are independent of the government in decision making.

There can be no doubt why this man is staying in the UK. He is no good to anyone tortured and executed in Jordan.

If he provides information that saves the life of a single person, military or civilian, the cost of keeping him here is worth every penny.

And take a look at his bail conditions - he is hardly running free.

Onwe

Onwe Report 19 Jun 2008 21:56

Perhaps he can tell us were the main man is hiding.

Cumbrian Caz~**~ Report 19 Jun 2008 22:00

I see your point Eldrick, but can he be made to talk? His conditions are strict, but if nothing is extracted then what then?

Hi sparrow, that would be very helpful but would he ever reveal it, these fanatics seem keener to blow them selves up, even the kids are doing so. it is awful,

Blow your self up for 22 virgins (dont forget the mother in laws)

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 19 Jun 2008 22:08

I dont believe for one moment that he needs to be tortured or to have anything forcibly extracted.

He isn't going back to Jordan, is he.....? In other words, he is staying alive....? Might that be enough to 'persuade' him to comply....?

Anyway, surely it is better to know where he is and what he is doing. Just monitoring him will provide loads of intelligence.

And even if it isn't and it's a massive double bluff....there is a huge advantage to us there as well...is there not?

Sparrow, we have like minds,

Eldrick, when i put this thread up, those thoughts were in my mind, lets extract all we can from him, make him worth our taxes, let him lead us to bin laden and get rid of them all,

I'm with you on that one!

And I think it would be much more succesful if we let the Generals decide on tactics rather than the politicians, but that ain't going to happen either.

For sure Eldrick,

The military understand, not Whitehall,

What really pees me off is that he's receiving more in benefits than I'm earning - and I'm earning well above the poverty line!!!!!
I think. as Eldrick hints, there's more to this than meets the eye.

Experience shows that there are two sides to every story. So far, I feel we have heard only one side of the case.

I thought Jordan was one of our Allies or am I mistaken? With regard to this man, at first I was horrified he wasn't deported as I suppose are most people in the UK, but then you have to ask yourself why supposedly intelligent people have decided to keep him here - not too sure about that one but I would imagine there's an awful lot we are not privy to

Teddys Girl

Teddys Girl Report 20 Jun 2008 12:32

Send him back to Jordan, let them have him.
If he wanted asylum in this country, being frightened of being in Jordan, he should abide by our rules.

pablo1513

pablo1513 Report 20 Jun 2008 13:35

He is not being deported because it will breach his "Human Rights" what human rights what about the "Human Rights " of the people (our troop etc) who he delights in the death of.

Send him back and let him face consequences .f he is executed the tough luck

Eldrick Report 20 Jun 2008 13:37

Pablo, being ex - military, I thought you would be able to see the bigger picture....

I would suggest that the situation is not as clear cut as it may appear to the casual observer!

pablo1513

pablo1513 Report 20 Jun 2008 13:44

OK then Eldrick,
If he is to stay, then he should be made to pay and not the taxpayers of this country.

No legal aid (paid for by us tax payers)

If it was any of us that were accused of the sort of things that he has been accused of in his country do you think we would be treated with "kid gloves" not on your life we would be found guilty as charged then sentence carried out. Oh yes and the government of this "great " country of ours would just let us rot in some foreign jail.
