When I heard of John Kennedy's assassination
I was dishing up dinner.

When the death of Marilyn Monroe was announced I was doing the ironing.

When John Lennon died I was typing and listening to the radio.

My daughter woke me up on a Sunday morning to tell me Princess Diana had died.

I was doing the school run when I was told of the twin towers collapse.

I honestly can't remember what I was doing when I heard that Elvis had died.

Absolutely right Ann......................it was a disgrace!

at Aberfan when you pass through you can see the memorial site with an arch for each person who was killed - row upon row - what has always angered me is that the government used the money raised from all over the world for the disaster fund, to clear the tip when in fact it should have been the National Coal Board and the Government's place to pay for it

I heard the news that Elvis had died round Mum's it came on the radio....................my sister said she couldn't go to work as she was so upset.................Mum said "don't be so dramatic, you aren't related to him!!" and made her go:))

When Diana died, our daughter woke us to say it was on all the TV stations.

When the Aberfan disaster happened it was on the news at home and it was the first time I saw Mum and Dad cry..................I was 12 and our school held a special assembly to pray for all of them.

I also remember the Queen crying when she visited the site.

Aberfan - over 100 children killed - I think it was 129 people altogether - it was Friday 22nd October 1966 [could have been 21st] children had just gone into infants'junior school and at five past nine a coal tip slid down the mountain and engulfed the school and some houses - had it happened about five or so minutes before there would have been less loss of life by a mile.

Elvis died during the summer holidays. It was the same year as the jubilee, and my nan bought me and my cousin jubilee scrap books to fill in. Mine was filled with various newspaper cut outs and even the milk bottle tops - they were silver with little crowns over them. I still have it safely stored away.

My cousin filled hers with Elvis pics and newspaper. cutouts.
I don't remember his death being announced, but vividly remember the front page of the The Sun that had a picture of him laying in his coffin.

I woke up Sunday morning and switched on the TV to watch Hollyoaks, and found out about Diana. Couldn't believe what I was hearing, and stayed glued to the telly all day.

It was my cousins birthday and it sort of passed by quietly.
