Gerri,Its going to be a hard slog,but persist,it will come out right in the end and you will wonder why on earth you started in the first place,( Usually its because it was,nt regarded bad at the time and everybody did it ) I gave up after many many years,instead of cigarettes I ate "Liquerice Allsorts" after a while the taste became unbearable,but the longing for a fag seemed to go.Good luck and keep determined.**M**.Ps.Regarding your chest feeling better! I could,nt comment on that,having never felt it.xx.:o)))>.pmsl.

~~~waves to Gerri down the road.
Keep going gal, it is so worth it. I gave up 1995, it was hard but I'm glad I did it. I've tried a couple of cigarettes over the years but they taste foul!
I still enjoy the smell of anyone lighting up/smoking outside and I dream about still being able to smoke and give up and start again as I want to with no hassle. (very odd I know) I won't ever go back to smoking now.
You are doing so well Gerri, do it for keeps this time.
Love Viv
Ron, keep going, you'll get there.
Hi, just got back from holiday, so hello all.
I gave up the dreaded weed 8 years ago, was a two pack aday lady, I used the patchers, but what you have to remember when you get the graving, it will only last a moment, so willpower is a must, good luck, its worth it
MrsBucketBouquet
MrsBucketBouquet Report 25 Jun 2008 01:16
Went back to the Chemist today to ask about the patches not sticking.....He gave me some surgical tape to tape over the patch.
It works!....but i look like a wounded soldier! lol
People keep asking me what i've done.....I tell them it's years of abuse lol
Ron, your doing better than me. I feel guilty for having the odd fag but then comfort myself with the fact that i'm not smoking 30/40 a day!
Wonder.y
Your SO right! it only lasts a moment....
Today i had two...but smoked half and threw it away. It tasted horrible!
Pablo1513
See above for the cure of making the patches stick.
STICK with us Pablo! Dont let a weed rule us any more!
Have you tried the gum? It works but is hard to stop chewing if it's still in your mouth.
This might sound awfull but i found if i carried some cling film with me and take it out of your mouth and pop it back when you feel the urge.....2 to 3 chews takes the craving away...
Keep going me mateys....
~~~~~to Viv up the road. I bet you cant smell me now? lol

I have a problem....

In my job i can have a break when ever i want.....and have as many breaks as i want....

We call them 'Fag breaks' Everyone smokes.

What the hell can i do instead of having a fag?
If i have a cuppa...i want a fag afterwards....if i eat...i want a fag!

Tonight on the fag breaks...i carried on working alone. They thought i had lost the plot lol

Maybe this will get better in time?

I know theres no answer to this but it helps to share the problem.
Thanks for listening....

Gerri x

PS... I dare not have egg n bacon with a cuppa tea!!!...thats the bestest fag in the world!...Ggrrrrr

Banana's are quite nice!........(yuk!) lol

Hi Gerri, well done for getting this far, an inch is a cinch but a yard is hard, is a saying I think of often, and so just take a day at a time, you are doing fine. What about having some grapes to eat at fag break time, frozen ones are nice if you are overheated, or any fruit cut into small cubes or slices, or dried fruit.
It must be hard when your colleagues are on their fag break and you are still working but better that than going out with them and being tempted.
Hope you can continue with the good work, and others too, lots of luck to you all.

1st July 2008

Daughter and pregnant Grandaughter(3 weeks to go) took me 'lane swimming' today...Did 20 lengths.

Daughter had a ciggie before we went in.
Daughter had a ciggie when we came out!

I'm still on 3...ish a day.

In the morning my chest is clear. I can clean my teef without feeling like throwing up!

Met a friend at the w/end that had given up 10 years ago. She had hypnosis.

Hypnotyist told her there are two types of smokers...
(1) Addicted to nicotine
(2) Habitual

I think i'm number 2.

I now have to kick the habit of smoking 3...ish a day!

Everyday is day one....but....watch this space.....

To all smokers reading this thread.....

.....I have been smoking for 43...ish years and giving up is easier than you think!...
The craving lasts no more than a few seconds.... HONEST!

Join me???

Well done Gerri, keep up the good work, and maybe you can even encourage your daughter to stop or cut back as well, maybe start off by asking her not to smoke when with you.
Hope your Granddaughter has a safe delivery, if she was a couple of days or so late, she could have the little one on my birthday,25th July, I will let her lol
