Anyone remember any clapping games? My daughter used to do one where while clapping another persons hands in different combinations she'd chant a rhyme.

Sally - clapping games - we used to do "swapsies" I couldn't describe it I'd have to show you. And one that went
"Miss Mary Mac, Mac, Mac
all dressed in black, black, black
with silver buttons, buttons, buttons
all down her back, back back ... ... (& on & on)

Do you know what, I told my little girl a few weeks ago she could choose a toy from the sale at Sainsburys. What she chose was a little clear plastic backpack containing

a skipping rope
some jacks with a bouncy ball
an elastic (perfect size for cats cradle & french skipping)
and 2 little palm held bats to catch a "ball" with suction bits all over it.

Was very glad she chose it and we've played with it loads.

My daughter's favourite was:
Eeny Meeny
Dessa Meeny
You are the one for me
Education, Iperation (?!)
I like you
Down town baby
Down by the rollercoaster
Sweet sweet cherry
No place to go
Caught you with your boyfriend
Naughty, naughty,
Didn't do the dishes
Lazy, lazy
Stole a box of candy
Greedy, greedy
Jumped out the window
Supersonic crazy
Eeny meeny
Dessameeny
You are the one for me
Education, Iperation,
I like you.

Obviously I can't show you the claps required for that rhyme.

but how many children of today..do we see..playing these games?.....They were important because they taught you values of winning/losing..joining in..being part of a `team`...imagination...
We live in an `ipod` `mobile phone generation..
