my brother farms turkeys, free range best i have ever tasted.

you should know where your meat is from and how it is reared, supermarket meat is often intensively farmed and full of antibiotics and growth hormones.

how do you think you can buy a chook for £3, its been kept in appalling conditions and pumped full of chemicals and water.

At least he is informing people of how animals should be kept before slaughter.

We get our chickens and Christmas turkey direct from the farm. My son goes with Grandad to pick them up and always comes back with tales of seeing the dead birds being prepared for people and how they cut the feet off. It fascinates him, but he isn't a cruel or horrible lad.

I do think Gordon is a good father but wish he wouldn't swear so much in front of his kids. They seem well adjusted youngsters tho, no whining and crying and they are learning so much from him, and know how to behave with people properly.

My o.h. is a real wuss when it comes to critters, he even hates pulling the plastic bag of giblets out of a chicken and never uses them for gravy, they go straight in the bin, or used to but I cook most meals here now so not so much wasted and all bits used where poss. Fgs, I even find him throwing away stalks off mushrooms instead of using them, stupid idiot. He would have had forty fits if he had seen what I used to as a kid, Mum or Dad skinning and cleaning rabbits, and plucking and dressing chickens, some of which had been in the garden for a while before they were used for food. I must admit I wouldn't choose to do it, but could if necessary altho couldn't kill something myself. Would have to have a peg on my nose tho lol

Personally i have far more respect for someone who kills their own animals for food.
I couldnt do it! but I respect people who do,it makes more sense to me than picking a pack of mince from a fridge, now that I find Hypocritical:-))

Gordon Ramsey turns my stomach too - ugly foul mouthed man that he is - that's why I don't watch him!!
BUT, have raised my own ducks and killed and eaten them, have prepared many a pheasant for the table (yes! I once was a pheasant plucker!!) and have watched the hares gamboling in the field opposite to our house at the time, and (shhh) eaten them!!!

my Dad was a poacher during the war so I was brought up on pheasant, pigeon, rabbit and hare - but never saw them alive - downside was that at the end of every meal there was a little row of lead pellets on the side of the plate - must have swallowed some along the way, but I'm still here so no harm done eh!
