We have all tried one way or another to get GR to moderate the boards full time but just seems to fall on there deaf ears, all they are interested in is making the money from the site ;;

On a serious note,,there is no excuse for a thread originator to let any thread get out of hand,when it can be stopped from the onset,,,,,,

when i put up a debate

i expect differences of opinion

but i disagree with people

been down right rude to other posters on it

who just differ in opinion

we all cant think the same and are entitled to our view

I disagree, mainly because I don't like the idea of on person being judge, jury and executioner.

GR already has rules as to what should and shouldn't be posted, and a mechanism for reporting any posts that are not compliant with those rules.

Having a different opinion shouldn't does not break those rules, but personal attacks on people do.

Lets leave it as it is.

I think its a bad idea.

Many members would have posts removed on the basis that they are disliked by the thread poster rather than there being anything wrong with the post itself.

That in itself would cause more upset and rows on the board. as people would remove posts in the quest to wind that person up.

Can you imagine joining in a debate, in a non contentious way, only to find your posts are being removed every time you add to the thread ?

Believe me, people are childish enough to do it.

I think the request review button is adequate enough to report individual posts. Ok it may not get removed straight away, but if the thread is going that nasty then its up to the poster, if around, to remove it themselves, or leave it and not comment further for all to see who is causing the upset..

That way if the thread owner starts censoring, then isnt it likely that there will be a stigma attached?

like "She/he " always deletes MY posts, but leaves her/his ""Favourites"" posts in.......?

I think it could be done,now, if it is worth the bother, paste the thread into word or summat, edit it, delete the original,and repost the amended thread....

Yes Sue - often it boils down to simple netiquette. It's like, for example, people that constantly type in capitals - they have been criticised in the past because it is the net equivalent of shouting - particularly in titles.
Message boards are very emotionless and expressionless.

I get the feeling that there are some people who like to go on a thread to start a squabble.

A debate (even a heated debate) is one thing but some people like to bring up old scores and see nastiness when it may simply be a difference of opinion.

Sometimes the problem is due to the difficulty of expressing emotions or irony on threads. Sometimes remarks look abrupt or rude when they weren't meant that way.

But then does that not make the thread instigator judge and jury? This is an open forum so if someone starts a thread on a certain topic they have to expect and accept that some people will not agree with them.
If they want to discuss a topic without conflicting opinions and views then start a private forum!

I don't know about anything that has gone on..............but it does seem a shame that some threads are happily jogging along with everyone getting along and enjoying themselves......and suddenly, just one thoughtless comment, and the whole thread can turn sour.......such a pity.....

but it would give responsibility
