Yes, to think that they were minding there own busness, crawling on a tree, then suddenly engulfed in a blob of tree sap! Eternaly preserved and put in a piece of jewelry!

I love pearls, which are one of my birthstones (agate is the other) and also love opals... which are supposed to be unlucky if they are not your birthstone, but I don't care.

I love emeralds though... there is just something about them.... The really clear emerald emeralds...... I have some cheaper, that don't have the same clarity, and I really love those, too..... but the clear clear emeralds fascinate me!

Love

Mostly by there pleasing apearence! lol

Confession time!

When i was little, any thing that was given to me, i used to pick out the gems and keep them in a pot!
lol i had no idea if they were genuine or if what they were set in was gold or silver( wasnt interested in that bit)
I still have them but now wish they were in there original settings!

I have a tourmaline pendant - it acts as a pendulum if you get lost - it will always swing north to south, or vice versa south of the equator due to the corialus effect

I love the beauty of most minerals and gems ( my parents had a shop that dealt in lapidary when I was a youngster ).

I love the humble Carnelian ( in all its hues ) Nothing better than going out to beach comb for them on a bright winters / autumn day ( when the sun is lower in the shy they are much easier to spot)

I've got a big jar full of them waiting to be tumbled.

Rubies are technically sapphires, but with a specific shade of red which classes them as rubies.
And sapphires do come in all colours.
My two favourite pieces of jewellery are my ruby engagement ring (my birth stone) and my Gran's wedding ring; my Mum had an aquamarine set into it. But for that little ring none of my family (nor me!) would be here!

I am surprised.........that there are not More people on GR that love..Diamonds..Rubies..Sapphires..and other jemstones...they are often carried down from generations..as `heirlooms`...
....handed down from grandparents..and that ilk..
I am trying myself to collect a few `pieces`..so that one day..my son..neices..will have a `piece` of something that I loved..and..admired...~~~~
